Early Birds.
We’ve been promoting the 2014 Innovation Showcase for a little while now, and it got me thinking about the Early Bird language we’ve been using. Everyone knows the phrase “the early bird gets the worm,” right?  It’s often used as a good example of the benefits of being proactive.

A good lesson, to be sure…but all I can think of is that poor worm.  I mean, what did he get for being early?

Eaten. Some lesson!

If you haven’t bought your Innovation Showcase Tickets yet, maybe you’re the early worm type; after all, sometimes being early can be more trouble than it’s worth. But consider this your less-than-a-week-to-go warning: next Thursday tickets jump up $30 to their regular price.

In this case, being early is worth just around 30 bucks.

Why go?

We’ve been hyping the great reasons this year is going to be even better than previous years: the record number of applications, exhibitors, funders… and the $123,000 in services and investment.  There’s a lot to be excited about!

But what I remember most about last year wasn’t the great space, the beer or even the phenomenal company that won the check. It was this: when I left after the entire afternoon of talking with investors and entrepreneurs, I ached.

No, really.
My face hurt.  My feet hurt.
My mouth was dry.

I’d had so much fun meeting the innovators this state has to offer, that I didn’t realize I’d been smiling and standing and talking for half the day.

That’s what I call a good time!

If you haven’t been yet, believe me: you’re not only going to learn and network, you’re going to enjoy it.
