If you’ve never experienced a Verge pitch, now’s your opportunity to catch 3 of the most exciting companies in the Carolinas. Each startup will have just 5 minutes on stage to pitch their startup—no exceptions. Think of it like Shark Tank (but a lot more real and with a community feel).

The founders will have 5 minutes of Q&A from our panel of “sharks” after each pitch when you’ll get to learn exactly how investors think and how the entrepreneurs respond on the fly. Our sharks bring diverse backgrounds and perspectives, which is sure to make for interesting questions and discussion…

Shark #1: Jan Davis | Board Member, Angel Investor, Executive in Residence

Jan Davis is a retired CEO, active investor, board member, and advisor for companies. In the past, Davis served as the President of Triangle Angel Partners, Entrepreneur in Residence at UNC, and on the screening committee for the new Carolina Angel Network. Davis served as CEO of ShopperTrak RCT Corporation, the global leader in pedestrian traffic counting. She co-founded SmartNames, a venture-backed database marketing information, analysis, and services company.

Shark #2: Haresh Gangwani | CEO & Co-Founder of Bolstra

As CEO of Bolstra, Haresh is responsible for creating and communicating Bolstra’s vision, mission, and overall direction with overseeing the implementation of the organization’s strategy. Previously, Haresh was the Chief Revenue Officer of ReachForce where he was focused on revenue growth and establishing strategies that drive integration and alignment between all revenue related areas.

Shark #3 Timothy McLoughlin | Junior Partner at Cofounders Capital

Tim McLoughlin is currently a Partner at Cofounders Capital, an early stage Venture Capital fund in Cary, NC focusing on B2B Enterprise Software. After graduating from Harvard in 2008, Tim founded his own company, Prime Time Hockey, which he successfully ran as President until he exited in 2015. Tim is actively involved in the NC Entrepreneurial community, and formerly worked as a Young Entrepreneur in Residence at NC IDEA and Idea Fund Partners, working on the venture side as well as serving as an adviser to several early stage software companies.

Matt has grown Verge into a community of more than 8,000 tech entrepreneurs, developers and investors building high-growth tech ventures in areas outside of Silicon Valley. Matt has also led successful teams with his own ventures, as well as Inc. 500 companies and venture-funded tech startups. He was named and Entrepreneur to Watch by Under 30 CEO and an IBJ Forty Under 40 Honoree for his entrepreneurial endeavors.
