This role: Reports to the Chief Insurance Officer and will help to drive new insurance product development in collaboration with partners and external actuarial consultants. The ideal person for this role is an independent, unique problem solver who brings a creative approach to solving analytical problems. You’ll be motivated by the fast-paced and multi-faceted nature of building several products concurrently across the Property and Casualty space in a startup environment. You'll have a solid insurance background in P&C product development with expertise specific to a variety of personal and commercial lines products. A Fellow (FCAS) or Associate (ACAS) of Casualty Actuarial Society strongly preferred.

What you'll do:

  • Drive, track and support the overall development and execution of high-impact P&C products from early development to filing activities with external firms.
  • Contribute to the overall product development process ensuring competitive market position and financially sound risk.
  • Work with external partners and regulators to ensure product approvals, interrogatories, dialogue.
  • Project manage development process through thoughtful communication with stakeholders, management, and external partners to ensure clarity around outcomes, dependencies, and risks, in order to drive unity and alignment.
  • Ongoing product management of released insurance products, data, analysis, reporting and updates.
  • From a compliance and competitive aspect, keep abreast of industry publications and pending legislation. Review for applicability to covered products/lines, implement and communicate changes as needed; prepare associated filings necessary to maintain alignment.
  • Work with internal stakeholders across technology, product, and design to assist and advise the building of technical product requirements to enable a digital quote, bind, policy issuance, policy administration, and reporting.
  • When necessary, engage with external stakeholders including partners, carriers and reinsurers.

What you'll bring:

  • 5-7 years experience in developing P&C personal and commercial insurance products at an insurer, consulting firm, or MGA.
  • Fellow (FCAS) or Associate (ACAS) of Casualty Actuarial Society required.
  • A clear understanding of insurance product design and multi-party value/risk proposition - what makes a product a success or failure.
  • Understand competitive position in the market and develop a strategy to address risks and opportunities.
  • Experience in designing/directing and/or review of policy wordings and other insurance related documentation.

  • A proven ability to manage multiple projects; keeping projects on track and advising management of roadmap.
  • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to independently take initiative on projects.
  • Ability to think strategically and innovatively. You find creative solutions to roadblocks, including regulatory restraints.
  • Ability to communicate complex ideas in a clear, concise manner both verbally and in writing to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to foster and develop relationships with key external and internal stakeholders.
  • Ability to adapt quickly to a start-up pace environment and culture.
