As a Data Scientist on our Trust & Safety Analytics team, you will be instrumental in ensuring we use data analysis to keep our users and community safe. You will scope out projects, conceptualize new strategies, and use data to find insights, diagnose problems, and tell compelling stories.

You will work closely with Product, Design, and Engineering, among other departments, to evaluate the impact of new features. You will lead experimentation within the Trust pillar, using traditional A/B testing and other established causal inference methods and developing a new methodology to evaluate impact in this unique space.

As an influential team member, you will disseminate findings and recommendations to various organizational partners via presentations, reports, and dashboards. Your insights will influence business performance, the experience of our users, and the direction of analytics at Tinder.

This position can be remote or based in Los Angeles, Palo Alto, or San Francisco, CA.

In this role, you will:

  • Design and analyze experiments to rigorously test a specific hypothesis.
  • Find the “story” in the data and readily share insights with the product, engineering, design, and at a company level.
  • Be an authority with a point of view for the organization, using data to constantly challenge and reshape our current understanding of customer behavior and business performance.
  • Derive and communicate data-driven recommendations regarding both the prioritization of potential product/marketing initiatives and the performance of current initiatives.
  • Define and operationalize the detailed tracking of company-wide, team-specific, and product-specific performance metrics via rollout tables, dashboards, and automated reporting.

You have:

  • At least 2+ years of professional working experience
  • Experience with SQL and data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau or Mode).
  • Familiarity with scripting languages and sophisticated statistical techniques - A/B experience is required.
  • Shown working experience in developing a nuanced business understanding, testable hypotheses, and significant findings from data.
  • Eagerness to identify and explore new product opportunities, potential improvements to our data infrastructure, and unanswered questions about member behavior.
  • Comfort using descriptive and inferential statistics.
  • A curiosity of how things work, from both a business and technical perspective.
  • A collaborative growth mindset with a dedication to community-based projects and partnerships.
  • Eagerness to improve the safety of members on Tinder.
