Discovery team aims to build innovative experiences and personalized content that makes matching with people on Tinder Simple, Fun, and Efficient. As an engineering manager working on Tinder’s Discovery Backend team, you will architect platforms that allow product teams to streamline onboard new entertaining and interactive experiences to Tinder App, build the server driven content control, delivery, and experimentation platform that powers personalized content in recs’ profile. You will also work with the ML team to define the image optimization strategy and build pipeline to help tinder users optimize their profile photos.

You will help Tinder to evolve relentlessly through rapid iterations on product features, user growth, engagement, and personalization strategy. In this Engineering Manager role, you will:

  • Support and iterate on the existing Explore Platform that provides templates and streamlines onboarding different entertaining experiences.
  • Manage a team of 6-10 direct reports with major focus on backend.
  • Design and develop server driven ui platform that allows easy onboarding new UI elements and provides configurable and personalized content.
  • Maintain and evolve the media optimization platform to provide enhanced and high quality media content.
  • Collaborate with the ML team to brainstorm and iterate on personalization strategy in serving user content.
  • Partner with client engineering, analytics, and product stakeholders to define product and engineering roadmap.

We’re looking for:

  • BS/MS in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related technical discipline.
  • 6+ years experience building and maintaining large scale distributed systems.
  • 6+ years programming experience in Java, NodeJS or TypeScript.
  • 2+ years leading a critical project, managing stakeholders.
  • 2+ years experience in mentoring and coaching junior engineers.
  • Experience working with NoSQL or RDBMS platforms - DynamoDB, Redis, or Postgres.
  • Experience working with streaming technologies like Kafka, flink.
  • Strong understanding of architecting, developing, and maintaining cloud technologies, architecting (especially in Amazon Web Services).
  • Strong collaboration and project management skills, able to drive the project from planning to deliver.
