As a Senior Data Scientist on the Revenue team, you will use data to address innovative and exciting projects that have a global impact. You will help guide strategic pricing and offers, reduce conversion funnel inefficiencies, build fraud detection models, balance premium subscription features, and own your hypothesis-driven experiments. Your insights will influence the performance of our business, the experience of our users, and the direction of analytics at Tinder. Additionally, you will mentor other hardworking data scientists on the Revenue team by guiding them to improve their knowledge and toolset.

This position can also be located in Los Angeles, San Francisco, or Palo Alto, CA.

You will:

  • You will be an authority on initiatives within the team (and broader organization) by using data to challenge and reshape our understanding of customer behavior and business performance.
  • Own data science research on pricing, discounts, and offers for premium features, and coordinate with Product Managers and Directors on pricing strategies.
  • Build a statistical framework for detecting, mitigating, and addressing instances of purchase fraud and failed transactions.
  • Derive and communicate data-driven recommendations regarding the adoption of new premium features.
  • Define and operationalize the detailed tracking of company-wide, team-specific, and product-specific performance metrics via roll-up tables, dashboards, and automated reporting.
  • Design and analyze experiments to rigorously test specific hypotheses.
  • Find the “story” in the data and share insights across the organization.
  • Be a mentor/advisor for other Data Scientists on the Analytics team.

You have:

  • 4+ years of professional working experience in Data Science and/or analytics.
  • Proficient in a scripting language (e.g., Python or R) is required.
  • Experience working in pricing, finance, economics, or related fields/projects.
  • Experienced with SQL and data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau or Mode) is required.
  • An understanding of A/B testing and sophisticated statistical techniques.
  • The potential to develop a dynamic business understanding, testable hypotheses, and relevant findings from data.
  • Eagerness to identify and explore new product/marketing opportunities, potential improvements to our data infrastructure, and unanswered questions about customer behavior.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, and a willingness to collaborate with business partners.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative field (e.g., Economics, Computer Science, Statistics), Master’s degree, or Ph.D. preferred.
