Upgrade Inc., a fast growing fintech "unicorn", is looking for a "rockstar" Technical Lead to join our Operations Analytics team and report directly to the Director of Data Analytics & Reporting. This key role will be a member of the analytics leadership team and take a key part of developing the technical capabilities of the team along with their strength in execution, stakeholder management and their intellectual competence.

We have an exceptional group of technical professionals on this team that are humble and ready to learn and we are looking for someone that will be able to help elevate their skills, their speed of delivery and ultimately improve our knowledge management structure and methodology to decrease the steepness of the learning curve for future new hires.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • ** Technical Leadership**
  • Is a consistent example of professional excellence and leverages optimistic leadership to drive more productivity within the team
  • Is tied into the overall activities of the team and proactively looks for opportunities to improve how our team is executing projects and provides mentorship where appropriate
  • ** Technical SME**
  • Gains mastery w/r/t all technical roles within the team (i.e. Data Analyst, Business Analyst, Data Scientist, Reporting Analyst)
  • Is capable of stepping in and performing tasks that align with the other technical roles on the team as needed and in order to drive higher levels of performance
  • Internal consultant to be used within the team for any advice or early infrastructure set up and support for Data Science and Analytics projects
  • ** Technical Roadmap Development**
  • Drive the development of business requirements for API integrations and other requests that relate to the Data Engineering team
  • ** Stakeholder Ownership**
  • Develop and maintain a relationship with the Data Engineering and DevOps teams to request and work on any automation needed for the team and business
  • ** Individual Project Execution**
  • Individually executes strategic projects, at the highest levels (i.e. wowing stakeholders), to increase the output, reputation and value offered by the OPS Analytics Team
  • ** Project Management**
  • Implement Project Management structures and methodologies to drive toward “wowing” our stakeholders on key projects within the OPS Analytics Team
  • Track Progress and ensure timely completion of projects with appropriate pacing
  • ** Code Review**
  • Review all SQL and Python code at regular intervals across major project milestones to ensure accuracy of the data product throughout its implementation and creation
  • Provide feedback throughout development for early efficiency gains and early issue detection and logging
  • ** Knowledge Management**
  • Keep, maintain and update the confluences pages of all relevant projects deployed in order to assist with any knowledge transfer or troubleshooting as needed
  • Drive the adoption and deployment of best practices in knowledge management, technical documentation and business requirements gathering across broader team
  • ** Recruiting**
  • Assist with recruiting talent for team
  • Create and administer technical assessments
  • ** Training and Development**
  • Create and Organize training sessions and materials for the team in order to develop the skill sets of each of its members

Skills, Experience & Qualifications:

  • Comfortable with ambiguity, developing creative solutions and delivering against aggressive timelines
  • Bachelor's degree required (Computer Science or related major (i.e. Computer Science, Information Systems etc.,) preferred)
  • Advanced degree in a technical discipline preferred
  • Minimum 5+ years of relevant work experience within data analytics related fields required
  • Mastery of SQL & Python programming a must, PostgreSQL preferred
  • Mastery in Project Management & Mentorship
  • Working knowledge of data mining principles: predictive analytics, mapping, collecting data from multiple data systems on premises and cloud-based data sources.
  • Working knowledge of complex data models, BI methodologies, data architecture principles (MDM, Metadata, API Integration, Database Design etc.)
  • Experience using analytical concepts and statistical techniques: hypothesis development, designing tests/experiments, analyzing data, drawing conclusions, and developing actionable recommendations for business units.
  • Experience in financial services is preferred
  • Experience with RPA is preferred
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong interpersonal communication and active listening skills
  • Proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite, highly proficient in MS Excel & PowerPoint
