The Connectivity team builds tooling to detect, understand, and respond to mission-critical connectivity events between mobile platforms and WHOOP devices in the field, and allow our mobile and embedded teams to roll out changes with confidence and high velocity. As a backend engineer on the Connectivity team you’ll focus on building and managing the systems to achieve these goals.

You will also be responsible for mentoring junior developers and ensuring best software practices for frictionless and fast software deployments. From ensuring timely firmware updates to members to designing innovative ways to establish connections from software to hardware, we bring WHOOP to the highest level of performance and availability across the globe using the latest cutting edge technology.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Work in a cross functional team that works closely with the hardware, embedded, and software engineering teams at WHOOP.
• Develop on top of cutting edge technologies to facilitate tooling for mobile, and embedded analytics and testing.
• Create and own systems that aid in analyzing connectivity health of our members.
• Work with one or more distributed systems like Kubernetes, Kafka, or Cassandra.
• Work on scaling challenges that span multiple systems and demand high availability and stability.

QUALIFICATIONS

• You are experienced with utilizing relational databases.
• You are an experienced engineer interested in scaling applications, infrastructure, and products world wide.
• You are experienced in working with AWS services and environments (EC2, RDS, Route53, VPC, etc).
• You are experienced in mentoring engineers in best practices in software development.
• You are excited to dive deep into challenges that extend past building applications and into infrastructure.
• You thrive in a fast paced and data driven environment.
• You are a team player who thrives on continuous learning and direct feedback.
• You have enthusiasm for the latest and greatest tools and technologies to bring about speed and efficiency to product development.
