We are looking for a Head of Systems Safety & Reliability Engineering to join our team. The goal of systems safety engineering at Wisk is to build an aircraft that is safe to operate in an urban air-mobility environment. In support of this goal, you will lead the team that identifies hazards associated with functions, systems and items, and develop mitigation strategies against these hazards in support of the certification of the product.

What you will do

The Head of Systems Safety & Reliability Engineering reports to the Head of Core Engineering and has broad responsibility for the analysis of all safety, reliability, availability and maintainability aspects of the aircraft design. You will lead a cross-functional team, covering the Safety, Reliability, Availability and Maintainability Engineering, as well as interface and support other core engineering functions such as, but not limited to, Systems Engineering, Autonomy, Flight Physics, Hardware and Software engineering as well as Human Factors, Ground & Flight Test and Certification. You will also interface with the multiple development program IPTs (Integrated Product Teams) focused on program execution and product delivery. A key aspect of the role is to balance the need for innovation with the formal requirements and process of developing a certified aircraft.

You will be responsible for providing technical leadership of the Systems Safety & Reliability Engineering team. As a leader, one of your primary mandates will be to strengthen and mobilize the Safety organization through leadership, coaching and mentoring. You will also be expected to mature the teams’ capabilities and methods (processes, tools, organization, etc.) to support company needs.

You accept to sometimes challenge the established design standards, too often a slow pacing adoption of new technologies, while showing the highest respect for the safety culture that was gained over the last decades of learning, and understand the hazards and their respective mitigations associated with commercial passenger transportation.
