We are currently seeking a Firmware Verification Engineer with broad experience to join us in developing exciting and revolutionary systems for a new class of all-electric aircraft. You will be part of a group that develops all of the electrical hardware on the aircraft, including flight computers, high power density controllers for brushless permanent magnet motors, DC/DC converters, low voltage power distribution systems, battery management systems, servo actuators, radar sensors, and miscellaneous other power electronics and avionics systems. You will have the opportunity to contribute from concept development, through aircraft integration and troubleshooting issues that arise during flight testing and certification.

Within 3 months you will

  • Become part of the team, get familiar with team members and learn what they are working on
  • Learn about the aircraft electronics architecture and existing hardware and firmware.
  • Work with the firmware engineers to develop requirements, on-target test environment and certification basis.

Within 6 months you will

  • Support the design engineer in validating the firmware requirements.
  • Develop a verification environment to support on-target testing for the functions being implemented and document the conceptual design.
  • Write verification cases and procedures for on-target testing following the verification standards and templates and checkout the design.
  • Evaluate options for improving the testability of the motor controller FPGA design
  • Guide the hiring of other verification engineers

Within 12 month you will

  • Evaluate options for improving the testability of the motor controller FPGA design
  • Support requirements based verification testing, analysis and documentation of firmware for DO-254 certification.
  • Write test plans, test cases and perform dry-runs followed by documenting the test reports (automation is preferred)
  • Lead team to perform reviews of the test artifacts
  • Support and own part of motor controller firmware verification testing on target hardware

Requirements

  • BSEE degree with at least six years of experience.
  • A master's degree and/or PhD count toward years of experience
  • Experience with On-target testing of an FPGA including the development of verification cases and procedures, verification report.
  • Experience with test and measurement equipment.
  • Experience in at least one complete life cycle of FPGA development on a Design Assurance Level (DAL) - A/B which includes from requirement capture all the way down to the Hardware Accomplishment Summary (HAS) including driving and being involved in SOI audits.
  • Great interpersonal skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Required to build and lead a team
  • Demonstrated ability to manage tasks and drive the team to meet project timelines.

Desired

  • Experience with Motor controller designs
  • Experience using the Xilinx and Microsemi FPGAs
  • Knowledge of Python language for test script development
