Design and own mechanical components and assemblies of the battery pack and modules powering Wisk’s next-generation eVTOL aircraft

Optimize mechanical designs for weight and size by developing creative design solutions using advanced materials and innovative packaging concepts

Collaborate with other engineering teams, including aircraft structures, cell development and cable harnessing, to integrate all systems at the aircraft level

Build and test prototype(s) to develop new technologies, improve tech maturity, and ensure they meet functional requirements

Work with test, system safety and certification teams to ensure designs meet stringent requirement to achieve FAA type certification

Collaborate with external vendors to build hardware optimized for manufacturability and assembly

Required:

  • BS, MS, or PhD in Mechanical, Aerospace, or Aeronautical Engineering, Physics, or equivalent
  • 5+ years industry experience
  • 2+ years of relevant battery experience
  • Strong understanding of Mechanical Engineering fundamentals with focus on battery module, pack and/or vehicle integration
  • Experience with high voltage architecture of Electric Vehicle batteries, bussing, and disconnect design
  • Proficiency with CAD software, Siemens NX preferred
  • Familiar with drafting standards, including GD&T, and can interpret and create engineering drawings for complex parts and assemblies
  • Knowledge of mfg processes such as injection molding, machining, stamping, and extrusions. Knowledge of part joining techniques such as laser welding, adhesives, bolted joints, brazing, etc

Desired:

  • Familiarity with aircraft certification and aerospace development best practices and standards
  • Familiarity with aviation test standards including with DO-160 and DO-311
  • Experience leading cross-functional integrated project teams including schedule, budget, and technical oversight
  • Experience working within large assembly environments strongly preferred
  • Hands on experience building prototypes and running tests
  • Track record in product development from concept to production
  • Experience with Data Analysis tools. Matlab preferred.
  • Experience supporting manufacture of large, high voltage traction battery packs, preferably including disposition of hardware non-conformances
