As a Senior Systems Test Engineer you will design and implement acceptance and qualification tests for avionics, electric motors, power electronics, batteries and other aircraft subsystems. Additionally, you will be helping to develop verification summaries for item and system level requirements and design tests that show compliance to regulatory and internal requirements. You will be responsible for developing and implementing all test plans and procedures as well as designing the necessary fixtures, scripts, and measurement devices to validate performance.

Within 3 months you will:

  • Learn the in-and-outs of component and aircraft functionality
  • Start to map the requirements to verification activities and plan out how we will verify all requirements needing test verification
  • Take ownership of new subsystems and start developing certification test plans and reports
  • Own the testing processes and execution associated with verification testing

Within 6 months you will:

  • Work with external and in-house test labs to lead environmental test efforts
  • Be intimately familiar with the aircraft architecture and improve upon current tests
  • Define and execute tests to validate system level requirements
  • Write and perform tests for hardware in development, acceptance, qualification, and on-aircraft testing efforts-- and get the chance to see your hard work fly!

Within 12 months you will:

  • Certify flight hardware for an entirely new aircraft
  • Actively improve current test efforts to support a production environment
  • Have the experience of taking flight hardware from concept to production
  • Pave the way for other item and system level verification efforts by defining processes, structure, schedules, and methods of showing compliance to regulatory and internal requirements

Required:

  • B.S. or M.S. in Mechanical, Aerospace, or related engineering degree
  • 6+ years of experience in hardware testing
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Experience writing test plans and reports for verification activities showing traceability to requirements
  • Designing and setting up tests for entirely new hardware
  • Knowledge and experience aerospace development best practices and standards for manufacturing and test including applicable standards
  • Experience using a configuration and requirements management systems
  • Extensive experience in operating data acquisition systems for data collection of thermocouples, accelerometers, strain gauges, pressure sensors, load cells, LVDT, etc.

Desired:

  • Experience working with various test lab environments and dealing with outside vendors
  • Familiar with Python for automating test execution and post-processing scripts
  • Experience with Teamcenter and Polarion
  • Experience with Solidworks
  • Familiarity with testing per RTCA DO-160
  • Experience with Linux
  • Experience with FARs relevant to general aviation
  • Demonstrated interest in aircraft and aviation
