**SUMMARY: **
Owlet’s Finance team is looking for an experienced Controller with expertise in developing and maintaining internal controls and accounting policies at a growth-focused, mission-driven newly public company.
The Controller role is critical to the strategic success of Owlet with a large scope and oversight of many moving pieces within the finance organization. This is an excellent opportunity for a technology savvy accounting professional with strong business acumen, effective communication skills and a growth mindset. You will play an essential role in driving financial and accounting systems, processes and activities for Owlet and will report to the VP of Accounting.
This position is integral in the planning and execution of our corporate initiatives and our ideal Controller is self motivated, results oriented, forward thinking and has a demonstrated track record in public company finance and accounting. Owlet is a fast growing company looking for an individual who is highly adaptable and is energized by the idea of learning and growing with the scaling of the Company’s business. Leadership opportunities within the Controller role include developing and maintaining Owlet’s reporting processes and accounting policies and partnering with key internal and external stakeholders while aligning controls and compliance with our SOX requirements and corporate compliance framework.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Develop and maintain effective internal controls and accounting policies and SOX requirements
Manage and direct the in-house Accounting/Finance Team, processes, procedures, and projects
Responsible for technical accounting oversight, timely monthly and quarterly GAAP financial statements
Provide accounting/tax compliance advice as Company expands distribution domestically into international markets
Instill financial responsibility with cross functional teams and department heads through education and partnership to ensure appropriate design and operating effectiveness of internal controls and inventory reconciliations
Tax oversight with outside tax advisors to prepare quarterly tax provision, annual corporate tax returns, and ensure compliance with Federal and State tax laws
Equity compensation plan & capitalization table oversight
Due diligence support in equity fundraising as needed
Monitor, assess and implement new accounting pronouncements, working with stakeholders to analyze the impact on the operational and/or financial performance of the company
