About this Role:

This is a senior role calling for strategic vision, tactical execution, thoughtful leadership of a team, and skilled upwards communication to senior executives.

The ideal candidate will be a seasoned communications leader who is energized by high-profile, high-stakes challenges. The candidate should be unflappable in the face of a crisis, have deep media relations experience, and show impeccable judgment while being comfortable with uncertainty.

This role is responsible for setting a strategic vision for the communications function and managing a distributed team while also owning two high-impact, high-visibility areas of focus: 1) regulatory/policy communications; and 2) data PR.

What You'll Do:

  • Develop and execute proactive media relations strategies and strategic communications plans, anchored in a keen understanding of Pacaso’s strategic priorities, product pipeline, and business goals
  • Shape coverage of Pacaso in top-tier media outlets
  • Partner with internal Public Affairs team colleagues to support the company’s advocacy to work through effective media relations and proactive campaigns
  • Partner with external agencies as well as internal stakeholders (including sales, product, and data science) to orchestrate effective, data-driven pitching strategies and PR campaigns
  • Lead the team in driving a plan to generate favorable coverage of Pacaso through creative storytelling and evergreen product pitches

About You:

  • Media relations: while extensive press contacts are a nice-to-have, the standout candidate will have deep experience working with reporters, strategic message development, and a record of successful pitching / story placement, as well as steering stories to a favorable place
  • Data PR: the ability to partner with economists, work with datasets, and use numbers to tell creative stories on the company’s behalf is a must-have for this role
  • Project Management: you can manage simultaneous deadlines and priorities and can expertly manage agency and vendor relationships to ensure maximum ROI
  • Exceptional communication in visual, spoken and the written word
  • Strong cross-functional communication skills, with the ability to earn and retain credibility with senior internal audiences
  • Self Starter + Executor: can design successful public relations campaigns at a local and national level, drawing from professional judgment and expertise in deciding how best to advance the company’s interests
  • The right candidate will bring an innovative and pioneering approach to communications, vs plug-and-play / rinse-and-repeat approaches
  • Excellent judgment and a strong point of view: this person will need to make time-sensitive decisions while balancing competing priorities.
  • Comfort operating in uncertain environments and a well-calibrated appetite for risk are essential qualities to bring to this role
