PagerDuty has an immediate opening for an outstanding commercial attorney with a strong technology background and experience in SaaS and on-prem Software business issues and transactions and data privacy to join our growing legal team, supporting our Sales and Partner teams for the Eastern region of the US along with the EMEA region.

This position will report to our Senior Director, Associate General Counsel – Commercial Legal, who is based in Atlanta. This role has the option to be fully remote with the understanding that the position supports the Eastern US and EMEA regions.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Admitted into and in good standing with at least one US state bar
  • Strong understanding of commercial law and contract fundamentals.
  • 5+ years experience primarily practicing technology transactional law at a leading law firm and/or in-house legal department – drafting, reviewing, negotiating, and advising on a variety of commercial transactions including subscription, SaaS sales, reseller, strategic partnerships, consulting, professional services and licensing agreements
  • Outstanding communication skills, both written and verbal, including the ability to advocate for a position while maintaining a collaborative and open-minded approach
  • Ability to analyze legal and business/operational risks and make decisions quickly to ensure agreements are consistent with internal corporate policies and processes.
  • Experience supporting a global sales organization, with a client-centric approach to resolving deals.
  • Experience working with and advising teams across different global regions and liaising with outside counsel for in-region deal support
  • Ability to understand business objectives and use excellent judgment to find resolutions to achieve the requirements of all parties
  • Comfortable in and enjoys interacting with sales, company leadership, and other stakeholders on deal-related matters and cross-functional projects
  • Experience coordinating across business lines to keep current on business activities and future plans; advise business partners in the implementation of legal and applicable regulatory requirements and ensure implementation
  • Dedicated and able to work efficiently, prioritize workflow, meet time-sensitive deadlines, and lead multi-dimensional projects in a fast-paced environment

Preferred Qualifications

  • Understanding of product-related legal issues, including risk shifting, intellectual property, open-source, global data privacy, data security principles, and revenue recognition issues (particularly as it relates to SaaS)
  • Experience working on strategic partnership transactions and channel arrangements in an international environment and negotiating with large multinational companies and global system integrators
  • Experience working with security functions on data security/privacy issues.
  • Background in working with Sales Operations, Finance, and other functions on deal velocity projects such as contract lifecycle management, new templates, and sales training
  • Federal, state, or municipal public law experience, including drafting and negotiating customer and prospective customer agreements in the public sector vertical
  • Experience working with contract management tools and managing automated contracting workflows
  • Experience working with customer relationship management tools
