About the Role

Customers and users across the globe use Planet's data and machine learning- powered analytics to develop new technologies, drive revenue, power research, and solve our world’s toughest challenges.

This role will be primarily focused on developing and executing early-adopter customer capture plans informed by market opportunities and Planet’s go to market plan for Planet’s Hyperspectral program in line with the Carbon Mapper Mission.


The Impact You Own:

  • Shape and participate in the Early Access Program for Hyperspectral missions;
  • Developing a capture plan to enroll early adopter customers into early stages of the Planet’s Hyperspectral program in target markets such as defense, energy, agriculture, government, and forestry;
  • Nurture and develop relationships with partners in the government, scientific and philanthropic communities;
  • Gather customer feedback to inform product development, market assessments and sales enablement activities
  • Leverage customer insights and other market research to develop recommendations on go to market strategy
  • Design the foundational business models to tie users, use cases and technology together across the mission’s development timeline;

Must Haves:

  • Relevant business development experience supporting new product and market development
  • Ability to manage and lead multiple diverse capture plans and facilitate complex business discussions
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and creative thinking skills
  • Excellent project, time, and budget management skills, and being able to handle multiple tasks simultaneously without sacrificing attention to detail
  • A mixture of high energy, flexibility and team orientation with a direct, honest, and respectful approach to problem-solving, and an ability to work both collaboratively and independently in a high-growth, start-up culture
  • Strong executive communication (speaking and writing), interpersonal, and organizational skills
  • Experience in an industry where imaging spectroscopy sensing could be applied. Experience in the energy industry is preferred, but experience other industries such as defense, atmospheric sciences, agriculture, environmental conservation or geology invited to apply
  • A passion for scientific progress, and boundless desire to address climate change

Compensation (only applicable for Colorado applicants):

The base pay range targeted for this position in Colorado is: $106,200 - $192,000. This role is eligible for bonus, commission and equity.

The actual offer, including the compensation package, is determined based on multiple factors, including experience, location, and other business considerations.

Planet is registered as an employer in many, but not all, states. If you are not able to work from a state where Planet is registered, you will not be eligible for employment.
