About the Role

The Senior Director of HR and Employee Engagement manages all aspects of Human Resources and the career development framework for our team members. This includes workforce planning, budgeting, recruiting, onboarding, benefit and program management, communications, and support, focusing on a healthy work environment (office and work-from-home), company culture, and DEI commitments.

What You’ll Do

This is a critical role within the company reporting to the Chief Operating Officer and working closely with all hiring managers. We are looking for people who feel comfortable taking on bold initiatives, who are both highly accountable and self-empowered. Some of the specific functions and responsibilities of this role include:

  • Define strategy and innovation for the HR function of the organization to include Talent & Acquisition, Compensation, Benefits, Performance Management, Career Development, Labor and Employment Law Compliance, Employee Engagement and Employee Discipline.
  • Translate HR Strategy into initiatives, metrics and tactical plans contributing at the leadership and individual contributor levels.
  • Oversee key operational functions such as employment offer process, onboarding/offboarding, payroll and benefits administration.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to management to address day-to-day HR operational issues such as employee relations, compensation reviews, escalated benefits issues, performance management and training.
  • Supervise and lead the HR and Talent Acquisition team in creating an inviting and cohesive employee experience.
  • Implement and manage compliance efforts with all the employment laws and regulations that govern private companies relating to all aspects of the employee life cycle.
  • Act as an employee champion and change agent by anticipating HR-related needs and delivering value-added services for the benefit of the employees.
  • Provide insightful crisis management advice when required.
  • Investigate claims of misconduct and escalates to legal and security team as required.
  • Maintain knowledge of industry trends, best practices, employment legislation and regulatory changes. Identify trends that could impact the organization's objectives.
  • Maintain an effective level of business acumen by understanding Axuall’s operations and functions, including company goals, mission, financial position, strategy, competition, technology, and culture.
  • Ensure that the organization’s values are reflected in people-oriented decisions.

**Qualifications **

  • 8+ years of experience working in a Human Resource function.
  • 3+ years of experience working in a HR leadership capacity.
  • Experience operating in a fast-growing startup, comfortable with an evolving business model and roadmap.
  • Experience in building and leading high-performing teams.
  • Ability to empower a team of “go-getters” and provide leadership to new employees.
  • Ability to identify opportunities for improvement and take the initiative to drive and deliver necessary changes to the business where needed.
  • An analytical thinker who uses data to inform decisions that identify and improve multiple aspects of the business (compensation, retention, workforce planning, etc.).
  • Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to communicate clearly to influence decisions across the organization.
  • Exceptionally detail oriented.
  • Ability to work both individually and collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Comfortable with ambiguity and change.
