Location: Minneapolis, Minnesota
Employment Type: Full Time
Team: Human Resources
Hi, we’re Gravie, and we are building the health plan of the future. For the
past few decades, the health insurance industry has evolved to serve the needs
of employers, insurance companies, brokers, and (sometimes) doctors and
hospitals. The needs of the consumer, however, have largely been left out of
the equation. We’re changing that. We are rebuilding the entire health
insurance stack, with the consumer as the central focus. Our goal is to create
a health plan that people can love.
As Gravie’s HR Business Partner you will work directly with people leaders and
team members to enable performance, strengthen our culture and play a key role
in delivering innovative people programs and policies to support Gravie’s
mission and business goals. This role will partner with business leaders to
develop and execute People strategies focused on talent management,
organizational effectiveness, and employee engagement. To be successful in
this role, you must translate business priorities into an HR agenda that
supports Gravie as it grows. You will help business leaders look around
corners and make recommendations to improve performance, retention, and the
overall employee experience.
You will:
- Serve as a trustworthy advisor on professional development, employee experience, talent management, and organizational effectiveness topics for assigned business leaders and teams.
- Manage performance and compensation processes, including input on training and development, as well as advising on merit and promotions in alignment with Gravie’s overarching total rewards philosophy.
- Encourage Gravie’s continuous feedback culture by modeling effective feedback loops and providing coaching to managers and teams to increase engagement and effectiveness.
- Coach managers to effectively lead organizational change in a rapid growth environment. When needed, facilitate broader team discussions to provide clarity to team members.
- Support Gravie’s HR Manager by driving the adoption of changes and programs that help bring our employee value proposition to life.
- Provide counsel and support on employee relations matters when needed. Manage investigations, disciplinary processes, performance improvement plans, and employee transitions.
- Use data from the talent planning process, engagement surveys, and any available people analytics to recommend changes to our People programs. Develop solutions targeted at the root cause to improve performance/outcomes for our employee experience and/or business outcomes.
- Play a key role in delivering Gravie’s commitment to foster a culture of diversity and inclusion.
- Work with the global People team on process and technology improvements, as needed.
- Demonstrate commitment to our core competencies of being authentic, curious, creative, empathetic and outcome oriented
You bring:
- We care less about what your diploma says and more about how your experiences have positioned you as a human resources expert.
- We also aren’t concerned about your last title, but we do want you to have deep experience and expertise in performance management, employee relations, investigations, merit/promotion advisement and leadership coaching.
- Previous experience working in a fast growing organization where you had to support remote teams, coaching managers through high growth and significantly evolving business goals.
- Strong organizational skills, an innate sense of urgency, and a desire to grow professionally.
- Ability to thrive in an ever-changing environment
- Previous experience in health insurance or health tech
- Previous experience in a startup environment

reimbursement, education reimbursement, and 1 week of paid paw-ternity leave
