Employment Type: Full-time

Team: Automation & Engineering Services

At Pattern Bioscience, we’re tackling antibiotic resistance, one of the biggest public health challenges of our time. We use machine learning and microfluidics to quickly recognize the bacteria causing an infection and to predict which drugs will cure the infection.

We are looking for a teammate, a problem solver, someone who is persistent, resilient, passionate, and loves to see projects to completion. As a Mechanical Engineer II, you will join our Automation and Engineering Services team and bring your design experience to support efforts to transition our manufacturing equipment from low volume to high volume production. You will design or select equipment that consists of optical, thermal, pneumatic, hydraulic, mechanical, or electronic hardware to support both consumable and instrument manufacturing. In addition to working with other mechanical engineers, you will work closely with our Manufacturing and Quality teams.

  • 6-Months: Support automation efforts by developing hardware to simplify operations and improve throughput

How You Will Contribute

  • Design, development, and test mechanical parts, electromechanical systems, and manufacturing fixtures
  • Work with manufacturers and machine shops to produce custom prototypes and parts
  • Evaluate, develop, and select off the shelf equipment that can support production volumes
  • Manage drawings, bill of materials, and test data for parts and assemblies
  • Design and execute test plans to demonstrate meeting of project requirements
  • Own projects from early-stage definition through completion and reporting of results
  • Collaborate with other engineers or operators to verify design outputs and validate user requirements

  • Zero in on the details, generating precise and thoughtful outputs
  • Structure and process qualitative or quantitative data and draw insightful conclusions from it.
  • Are collaborative and regularly seek feedback
  • Proactively seek to learn and improve, pursuing high standards for yourself and your work
