Principal Designer
Ironclad, a leading contract lifecycle management software company is seeking an experienced Principal Designer to join our team. This role has significant scope and span, including accountability for one or more company-level goals.
As a Principal Designer, you will report to our VP of Design and be responsible for creating, evolving, evangelizing and troubleshooting all aspects of our design process, including: visual design, interaction design, user experience, user research, and brand identity. Presently, this is an IC role that is wholly focused on cross-functional leadership and influence. As the design team grows, your role may include people management.
We are looking for a world-class design leader with a history of leading company-changing projects that tangibly shift business performance. Successful candidates will likely have over 15 years of professional experience, with a minimum of 7 years in a leadership role (i.e. director plus). You should also have significant management experience.
Responsibilities:
Guide all aspects of design, including visual design, interaction design, user experience, user research, and brand identity.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop design strategies that align with business goals and user needs.
Develop and maintain design standards and guidelines to ensure consistency across all products, services and communications.
Mentor and sponsor other designers by providing guidance and support to help them grow professionally.
Advocate for design excellence across the organization, and ensure that design is an integral part of our company culture.
Be accountable for the design team's contribution to company-level goals.
Work closely with other departments, including product management, engineering, sales, and marketing, to ensure that design is integrated into the overall product and business strategy.
Act as a thought leader and evangelist for design both within the company and in the broader design community.
Be hands-on in projects and with design work including facilitating sprints, drafting wireframes, creating prototypes, producing visual designs, writing copy and validating work through user interviews.
Qualifications:
At least 15 years of experience in design
A minimum of 7 years in a leadership role (i.e. director plus)
At least 5 years of management experience
A strong portfolio of design work that demonstrates your ability to create innovative and effective design solutions that move businesses forward
Excellent communication and storytelling skills, with the ability to articulate design concepts and strategies to both technical and non-technical audiences
Proficiency in design tools such as Figma, Sketch, Creative Suite, and more
Unicorn coding ability is always a big plus

**Base Salary Range: **$248,000-$372,000
The base salary range represents the minimum and maximum of the salary range for this position based at our San Francisco headquarters. The actual base salary offered for this position will depend on numerous factors, including individual proficiency, anticipated performance, and the location of the selected candidate.
