The Opportunity

We’re looking for a galvanizing Associate Director of Account Management, MidMarket to lead our team of Account Managers in driving retention and revenue growth within our book of midsize accounts. In this role, you will coach and lead your team to develop strategic account plans, create deep relationships within their accounts, leverage technology to scale their activities, and drive value for those accounts such that they trust Buildout and invest in more solutions from our company.

Reporting to the Director of Customer Operations, you’ll be a valued leader in the Revenue organization, helping to drive customer strategy and product innovation. And, you’ll enjoy our frequent conversations about snacks.

How You’ll Contribute at Buildout

Strategy and Leadership

  • With the Director of Customer Operations, develop the overall MidMarket Account Management strategy and advise on potential opportunities and risks, focusing on the change management as our Account Managers work to automate more of their activities and provide both account management as well as customer success support
  • Organize (and reorganize as needed) the team’s territories to ensure optimal coverage and maximum account growth, working with the RevOps team to appropriately set quotas and milestone measurements
  • Design and implement next-generation SaaS and software playbooks to help the team reach and exceed annual renewal and growth targets, innovating in our approach and leveling up the value the account managers provide, including supporting customer success activities
  • Instill a mindset that we must constantly sell, and constantly prove our value to our customers; we must always earn the right to have their business
  • Serve as the executive sponsor for key clients, developing a trusted advisor relationship and understanding their strategies and KPIs
  • Transform clients into champions by ensuring the team maintains high levels of engagement and communication - especially with key influencers in the accounts, and by conducting routine performance reporting, strategic planning, and executive business reviews
  • Help our net new sales team by leveraging the amazing goodwill we have with our clients, focusing in particular on our referral and testimonial programs
  • Be a constant student of the CRE landscape, our customer’s businesses, competing and complementary technology and
  • Build a network beyond Buildout, not just of our customers and industry compatriots, but of Sales and Customer Leaders from whom you can learn best practices

  • Hire, coach and maximize a team of AMs with incredible listening, communication, dot-connection, and time management skills
  • Teach and reinforce Buildout’s tech SaaS focused sales methodology to advance the team’s skills and to better support customer needs
  • Offer your team opportunities for skill and experience development, improving the trajectory of their careers
  • With the rest of the leadership team, plot career paths for the Account Manager role and how team members can evolve at Buildout
  • Proactively manage capacity within your team, maintaining the right net headcount expenditures across the year, without compromising revenues, having gaps in account coverage, or impactfully disrupting the customer’s experience

Operations :

  • Manage day-to-day operations of the Midmarket AM team including: maintaining an accurate forecast, managing escalations from direct reports, ensuring the delivery and documentation of high quality engagements throughout the customer lifecycle, and facilitating weekly one-on-one and team meetings
  • Create and maintain an updated forecast to predict future business performance and churn risk
  • Work closely with new business sales, implementation, marketing, product, engineering, and support teams to ensure we constantly deliver value to our customers and improve upon our customer journey
  • Ensure all activities are recorded in Salesforce, ChurnZero, and other Revenue tech software as appropriate
  • Track and analyze renewal and upsell activities to understand what’s working and what’s not, find the winning tactics to exploit and broken playbooks to fix

**What You’ll Bring to Buildout **

  • 4+ years of sales and/or account management experience, in a quota carrying capacity
  • 2+ years of management
  • Proven ability to drive results, with a track record of meeting and exceeding revenue targets and/or account growth targets
  • A hands-on and deep understanding of B2B SaaS deal flows, relationship building, and pricing mechanisms

We’re prioritizing candidates in Chicago who can work in our downtown office a few days a week during your onboarding and periodically for in-person collaboration days with the Revenue team. The targeted compensation range for this role is $130,000 - $150,000 which includes base salary and variable compensation.
