Overview:

Codecademy wants to build its newest course and is looking for an expert programmer or academic to provide guidance. The Subject Matter Expert provides the Codecademy Curriculum team with specialized, up-to-date, nuanced insight into how a specific language, framework, or concept is used and how it should be taught. This is a paid, remote, contract position with a typical commitment of 3-5 hours per week.

Opportunity Highlights:

  • Provide consulting services for the purposes of designing catalog content.
  • Use your independent expertise to provide consulting services with respect to the content (i.e. lessons, quizzes, projects).
  • Independently audit and revise the lessons, quizzes, and projects based on your expertise in the field.
  • As part of your consulting service, provide technical and pedagogical insights that other team members—and, ultimately, Codecademy learners—can understand.

Skills & Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience as a professional programmer
  • Extensive knowledge of and real-world experience with Next.js
  • The ability to provide clear, actionable, and empathetic feedback and explanation as part of your consulting services
  • A strong command of written and spoken English

Bonus Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of experience as a professional programmer
  • Experience in both programming and education
  • Experience teaching Next.js
  • Experience in online education at scale
  • Extensive knowledge of and real-world experience with Vue.js
