Workforce Growth & Operations Manager at Curated | Powderkeg

Curated is on a mission to help people find exactly what they’re looking for

Whether it’s your first snowboard, a brand new baby stroller, or a much needed upgrade to your coffee machine – shopping is hard when the stakes are high. We make it easy by connecting customers with Real Experts who can answer their needs faster.

Curated is the home of America’s biggest community of Real Experts

Real Experts aren’t sales assistants. They’re people living ordinary lives, who also happen to be obsessively passionate about something. They have real, on-the-ground, lived experience — they’re not proficient in tennis, they’re fluent in it.

Making high-stakes purchases easier is only the beginning

Our Real Experts connect with customers in ways that would be unimaginable in any other retail context. They work hard to understand your needs, trade stories, help make plans, and keep in touch.

It’s why customers are obsessed with Curated – and why our Real Experts have a 4.96 average star rating over 85,000+ reviews.

Curated is a marketplace that matches consumers (our demand) who are shopping for specific products with industry experts (our workforce of 2000 “experts”). To deliver a seamless experience to our end users, we need to maintain a population of experts that has sufficient capacity to proficiently handle all incoming demand. This means that we need to constantly recruit great experts, keep our existing experts engaged, and maximize how we utilize the capacity of our top performers. In this role, you’ll be responsible for planning and operating our entire end-to-end hiring process across all departments while managing the team that executes on this daily.

Your goal will be to produce high-quality expert candidates at scale and optimize the processes that drive our robust hiring funnel. Much of your work will be analytical and metrics-driven in nature -- you’ll become a pro at thinking through tradeoffs, and your decisions will have a direct, meaningful revenue impact. You’ll work across internal teams & experts, constantly coordinating to ensure our expert hiring operation is running smoothly.

Responsibilities:

1. Monitoring our day-to-day hiring funnel and making adjustments if we’re not pacing to plan.

Every day you’ll be looking at key metrics to 1.) Monitor hiring pipeline throughput rate at each stage to stay on pace with hiring targets and lead forecasts and 2.) flag whether our new application totals/costs are sufficient for the targets you’ve set. Over time, you’ll learn how to use Looker to build out monitoring dashboards for all of the above, which will be used by you and others.

2. Optimize our hiring funnel for maximum efficiency.

You will work closely with the Expert Operations team to locate and improve on existing processes and additional areas of opportunity within our hiring pipeline. You will refer to key metrics and large datasets to make informed decisions and strategic suggestions. Will present and test hypotheses through multiple avenues of experimentation.

3. Proactively communicate with cross-functional partners and manage expectations.

Calling out to the team when you have a metric going south, or if parts of the hiring process are not producing according to targets. This will include flagging if you need help from another team, and getting approval on budgets from the Expert Operations and/or Finance team.

4. Manage our supply planning models

Downloading weekly data to update a large model, minor formula updates, and flagging any important changes in model outputs during weekly expert supply meetings.

5. Managing escalations / issues surfaced from onboarding candidates

Receiving any issues surfaced from candidates (and, where possible proactively identifying them), appropriately handling them or delegating as needed to ensure a quality candidate experience.

6. Fully managing a team of 4-6 people.

Managing scheduling needs, creating coverage for all department functions (7 days/week), developing and delivering feedback processes, and reporting out on team progress. Additionally, this means that over time you become the go to person for each of the team member’s respective functional areas: Not limited to (path management, final evaluations scoring and management, applicant lifecycle, candidate satisfaction/engagement, candidate communications, and ongoing xfn orientation experiments)

While these qualifications are typical of a strong candidate, they are not exhaustive and not required unless noted. We take a holistic approach to hiring and would love to connect if this sounds interesting to you!
