An overview of this role

The IT Engineering team closely partners with our greater IT and Security organization to build, manage, optimize and secure internal GitLab IT services. We are responsible for services that the majority of our team members use daily, including high-visible products like Okta, Google Workspace, Slack and 1Password, as well as backend services that help to manage and secure the company like Jamf, SentinelOne, Nira and NordLayer.

We also administer GitLab.com for our internal users, which is exciting because we are big believers in dogfooding!

As our new [Senior IT Systems Engineer](https://handbook.gitlab.com/job- families/finance/it-systems-engineer/), you’ll be responsible for optimizing these existing products, as well as assisting with deployment of any new IT services. You will handle escalations from the Service Desk team around our internal services, while also creating automated ways to solve more difficult problems that can’t be handled by a simple configuration switch. • Assist in ongoing evaluation and management of major vendor relationships and outsourcing arrangements
  • Develop system-monitoring and support automation to enhance and scale the quality of support
  • Provide emergency response either by being on-call or by reacting to symptoms according to monitoring and escalation when needed
