Area-I, Inc. is a metro-Atlanta-based company dedicated to the development of
state-of-the-art unmanned aircraft systems designed for use by the United
States Armed Forces. We specialize in the development of unmanned aircraft
systems that eject from host platforms or modular launch systems. These
platforms are designed to meet the specific needs of our customers where we
design, build, test, and ultimately deliver unique solutions to the customer.
Area-I’s customers include the U.S. Air Force, U.S. Navy, U.S. Army, and NASA.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
The material handling specialist will be responsible for the receipt,
warehousing, and issuance of material and components against work orders to
support the production of unmanned aircraft and comply with the Federal
Acquisition Regulation (FAR). This individual will be a key contributor to
the design, implementation, and maintenance of material flow processes for
productions. This role will collaborate with the inventory and purchasing
groups to ensure that material is being consumed and replenished to plan. Key
performance indicators for this role include on-time delivery, inventory
accuracy, and the identification and execution of continuous improvement
projects that support departmental goals.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- 1- 2 years working in a manufacturing setting (aerospace, automotive, electronics, or medical industry preferred)
- Experience with shipping/receiving, inventory management, and cycle counting
- Ability to catalog new processes in standardized operating procedures (SOPs)
- Can pick, kit, and deliver productions components against work order to support the production schedule
- Familiarity with ERP systems (Oracle, SAP, etc.)
- Basic computer skills (Word, Excel, email, etc.)
- Strong organization and communication skills
- Willing to work overtime under tight deadlines
- Must be a team player, maintain a positive attitude, and have good customer relationship skills
- Ability to lift 30 lbs.
- Ability to be on your feet throughout the day
- Ability to multitask with little supervision
- U.S. Person Status is required as this position needs to access export-controlled data.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Collaborate with supply chain and production to set up the material flow processes for the warehouse and kitting areas
- Collect production components following material receipt and deliver to discrete storage locations in the warehouse
- Print pick lists for work orders, kit components and deliver kits to production based on schedule
- Transfer components from inventory to work order in Area-I’s ERP system
- Cycle count and investigate inventory discrepancies as they are discovered
- Recognize replenishment signals and take action to trigger reordering processes
- Develop material handling processes and document them in Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
- Train future candidates in material handling processes and standards
- Formalize new processes in standard operating procedures (SOPs)
- Bachelor’s degree in business administration or supply chain management
- Familiarity with bills of materials management and engineering change control
- Experience working in a new model launch or start-up environments
- Forklift, pallet jack, and cherry picker experience desired
- A strong grasp of lean manufacturing, six sigma, and/or Toyota Production System concepts
- Experience with handling government property under the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR)
