Anduril is a defense technology company, bringing Silicon Valley talent and
funding to the defense sector. Our technology helps our customers solve their
toughest challenges by enabling them to make better, more informed decisions
in the life-and-death situations. We’ve assembled a diverse team of experts in
artificial intelligence, computer vision, sensor fusion, optics, and data
analysis that are creating software and hardware solutions to radically evolve
the capabilities of the United States and our allies. If you are passionate
about solving problems that have real impact, come join Anduril and build the
future of defense!
WHAT YOU’LL DO
- Perform hand calculations and spreadsheet first order models to inform path forward before jumping into detailed design or analysis. Use first principles as a basis for every decision
- Communicate pros/cons of system architecture with respect to structural considerations. Strong focus on good architecture to ensure designs are robust in nature
- Work with aero/CFD engineers and others to define loads for aircraft structure and subsystems
- Generate and maintain integrated FEMs for flying vehicles. Astutely pace model maturity based on state of hardware design and program goals
- Perform coupled aero-structural analysis on flight vehicle designs (flutter, aeroelastic, etc.)
- Support flight vehicle structural certification efforts — whether requirements are defined by customer (SEEK EAGLE, FAR, etc.) or, in the absence of customer requirements, internally defined by logic and best practices (which you will help define)
- Develop internal tools and reports for communicating loads and analysis results across teams
- Present status at formal reviews with Customer and internally. Technical status, risk tracking, inputs to program planning, etc.
- Interview other team members as projects grow in scope and complexity. Attract strong technical talent
- Provide structural test inputs to help build out lab space and infrastructure
- Create test models, define test loads, requirements and margins, and oversee structural testing
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s or higher degree in engineering or a hard science with a focus in structures
- Deep understanding of statics, aeroelastic, solid mechanics, materials, finite element analysis, and dynamic testing
- Experience with aeroelastic flutter analysis
- 6+ years of experience designing and analyzing aircraft structures
- Proficiency in the use of FEMAP/Nastran
- Structural and flight testing experience – sensor selection, data acquisition, data post processing (Python preferred)
- Highly motivated, self-starting, and able to perform duties autonomously without supervision
- Very organized and willing to establish scope and requirements for ill-defined problems
- Passion for defending the United States and her allies
- Must be able to obtain and hold a U.S. Top Secret security clearance
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Structural analysis or design experience on other complex hardware — rockets, satellites, etc.
- Experience with rotorcraft
- Experience developing code in higher level languages (e.g. Python, MATLAB, C++) for developing analytical models and data acquisition and automation
Anduril is an equal-opportunity employer, and we encourage candidates from all
backgrounds to apply. If you are someone passionate to work on problems that
matter, we’d love to hear from you!
