Based on the evolving situation with Covid–19 we are mostly remote, this includes the hiring process. We are in the process of moving to a hybrid of onsite and remote with some positions remaining 100% remote.

Why This Role Is Important To Arcadia

In this position you will work with our engineering group supporting the Big Data production infrastructure. Using DevOps tools and strategies, you will support deployment, upgrades, incidents and proactive improvements related to IaaS.

The ideal candidate will be passionate about software as infrastructure and IaaS designs. They bring a strong track record in designing, building, and supporting virtual infrastructure in an AWS cloud environment. Problem- solving, critical thinking, creative solutioning, and a drive for continual learning is a must-have.

What Success Looks Like

In 3 months

- Understand the high-level topology of our infrastructure and its dependencies

- Contribute to the Big Data DevOps team’s project work

- Capable of supporting incidents with minimum support from other team members

In 6 months

- Achieve a deep understanding of our infrastructure including costs

- Contribute to the design and build of more robust and cost-efficient infrastructure

- Troubleshoot existing infrastructure incidents at an expert level

In 12 months

- Work with developers to build out infrastructural templates (e.g., Terraform) to standardize infrastructure components

- Help to replace legacy infrastructure with new more robust components

- Work with 3rd party vendors to design/supply outsourced solutions where appropriate

- Work directly with customer tech teams to help troubleshoot or setup new integrations

What You'll Be Doing

  • Develop an automated and autonomous system using DevOps tools and traditional programming techniques
  • Create, test, and secure Linux and serverless solutions for Arcadia’s products and internal teams
  • Capture system, service, and security telemetry to present data in dashboards, reports, scorecards, etc.
  • Provide support to operations team by identifying and implementing best solutions, including identifying root causes
  • Work with vendor support to solve technical issues, perform upgrades, and migrate to better/faster/stronger gear
  • Breakdown and rebuild tech to decouple bottlenecks and reduce costs for existing code/infrastructure
  • Assess viability of implementation of new technologies and make recommendations for new solutions
  • Support new architecture components to maximize uptime, availability, security
  • Work support tickets as part of a high output team in a fast-paced environment
  • Manage and optimize build pipelines and CI/CD tooling to streamline new product launches/features

What You'll Bring

  • Three years of professional experience, with at least two years of support experience in a complex technical environment
  • Technical expertise in industry leading products such as AWS, Docker, Ansible, Terraform, ELK
  • Expertise in at least one programming language used to building/launch cloud-based infrastructure
  • Technical knowledge including cloud services (RDS, S3, IAM, SSM, Lambda), virtualization, containerization, postgres/mysql, and security
  • Comfortable building/proving new services for improvement/replacement of existing tech

Would Love For You To Have

  • Professional technical certifications from leading industry vendors such as AWS, Microsoft
  • Expertise in python, shell scripting, and/or Java (or JVM languages like Groovy) for developing autonomous solutions
  • Experience with distributed systems and technologies (Spark, Hadoop, Kafka, etc.) and/or NoSQL database technology (Scylla, Cassandra, etc.)
  • Proven ability to deliver production software, including the use of Github, Jenkins and/or other CI/CD tools
