About the Role:

AutoFi is looking for a strong Engineering Manager to work with engineering leaders, direct reports, product owners, UX design and other team members to develop the next generation of tools for AutoFi’s customers and partners. This person will direct, plan and coordinate activities, while supervising a team of engineers. The Engineering Manager is responsible for people management, project management and utilizing technical knowledge to deliver the right product, the right way. We are looking for someone that is extremely passionate about building a highly efficient, productive & positive team.

Responsibilities:

Work with engineers and other leaders at AutoFi to break down the complexities of the business needs and deliver high-quality code while meeting timelines established

Engage with product owners, business leaders and other members of the AutoFi business teams and provide solutions to our customers’ needs on AutoFi’s roadmap schedule

Support, build and extend the engineering team’s best practices to create and maintain reusability and reliability as it relates to high-quality code

Establish and manage processes to help your team deliver it’s best work and communicate and engage effectively with the rest of the company

Help recruit, onboard and develop engineers on your team to become the best engineers they can be and help them advance in their careers

As a member of our engineering management team, you will work with engineering leadership on engineering-wide initiatives

Handle personnel management responsibilities including performance reviews, performance management, disciplinary action, coaching/mentoring, setting goals, removing obstacles, etc.

Effectively communicate & collaborate with other managers, stakeholders, direct reports & contractors

Focus on operational efficiency of the team

Prioritize, delegate and supervise all direct reports’ activities & deliverables

Escalate issues as needed to Dir/VP

Take ownership of the team’s performance

Other duties as assigned

Relevant Experience:

6-8+ years of relevant post-academic software engineering experience

3+ years’ experience managing highly effective software engineering teams

Worked with and managed remote team members and teams in a fast-paced environment

Successfully built teams that work very well together and fostered a culture of collaboration, empathy and ownership

Experience building exceptional software products using technologies like Javascript, Typescript, React, NoSQL databases, NextJS, GraphQL and other similar technologies

Must possess strong skills in the following areas:

organizing & prioritizing tasks

critical thinking & problem solving

communicating effectively across teams

managing deliverables and meeting deadlines

producing quality code & writing effective tests
