About the Role

AutoFi provides a public facing API that allows enterprise partners to build their own experience on top of the AutoFi platform. A senior software engineer on the API team is responsible for making the API easy to consume while keeping it scalable for high volume traffic. A candidate for this role is expected to know and apply best practices for REST and GraphQL API design and implementation with a keen focus on quality. Leadership and willingness to mentor others makes up another important aspect of this role. A candidate applying for this should have extensive experience working with public facing APIs and the technologies used to build and test them.

• You are a customer-minded engineer who is passionate about delivering value through well thought out backend APIs.
• You are proficient in building software and care deeply about the craft.
• You are experienced designing and building client-focused GraphQL and REST APIs
• You are familiar with current web frameworks such as Node.js, Typescript, NoSQL databases, and modern container-based architecture.
• You thrive in an agile team, working closely with business, product, and design to deliver a high-quality product.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement GraphQL and REST APIs for internal and external clients. - Lead development of new features that integrate with existing products.
• Build robust infrastructure to support new services and products.
• Work with product and design to inform trade-offs and scalability concerns.
• Establish and encourage best practices through documentation, mentoring and thoughtful code reviews.

Required Qualifications

• 6+ years of relevant, post-academic Software engineering experience.
• Industry experience designing and building GraphQL and REST APIs.
• Industry experience building data-driven applications with GraphQL, REST, Javascript, Node.js, MongoDB, Redis, React, Docker, or equivalent.
• Comfortable in a fast-paced start-up environment.

Preferred Qualifications

• Degree in computer science or related field
• Experience mentoring developers and providing technical thought leadership
• Prior Automotive or Fin Tech experience
