Binance, the world’s leading cryptocurrency exchange, is actively building a world-class tax team to address the global tax needs of this rapidly growing, dynamic business. Reporting to the group’s Senior Tax Counsel, the successful candidate will provide end-to-end transactional tax support to deal teams globally, from the planning phase to the structuring of the business activities in a tax compliant and efficient manner and ensuring a smooth transition and integration into the group.

This high impact role will involve significant exposure to senior internal stakeholders and requires the ability to clearly and concisely communicate complex tax issues and their commercial implications. Alongside the Senior Tax Counsel, the successful candidate will manage the group’s external transaction tax advisory relationships to drive value and quality.

In addition to demonstrating mastery of subject matter, the ideal candidate will be hands-on, proactive, independent, flexible, and happy in fast-paced environments, and bring a proven record of delivery across these responsibility areas.

Responsibilities

  • Effectively manage tax workstreams on M&A projects, including overseeing external advisors providing tax due diligence, structuring and advisory support; involving (where appropriate) and working closely with the regional tax teams; and directly negotiating transaction documentation with counterparties
  • Partner with Regional Tax Directors and provide internal support to business development initiatives, including technical tax analysis and advice on the launch of new products and services
  • Support tax structuring and planning discussions and projects within the group, including internal corporate reorganizations
  • Proactively identify tax risks and opportunities for optimization / risk mitigation
  • Monitor changes in international tax legislation and practice, and relevant case law, evaluate its implication to the group, write summary memoranda, and brief the tax team and wider business as appropriate
  • Work closely with other members of the global tax team, such as Regional Tax Directors and Transfer Pricing specialists, in cross-functional or regional projects and initiatives
  • For all of the above, the Tax Counsel will be liaising with key internal and external stakeholders such as Business Leaders, Legal, Finance, Compliance, and external advisors

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Law, Accounting, Economics or Taxation
  • Qualified tax accountant or tax attorney with a minimum of 6 years of experience in cross-border M&A tax in professional services and/or in-house
  • Proven track record of success in complex cross-border M&A transactions is essential, with experience in financial services / DeFi / cryptoassets highly desirable
  • Technically strong with solid knowledge and experience in tax law and regulations relevant to global M&A transactions
  • Be a fast learner and be highly flexible and adapted to a fast-paced environment
  • Be proactive and able to perform well independently in a remote set-up
  • Must have a demonstrated hands-on approach and success in working in a team-based environment
  • Fluent written and spoken English, with proficiency in one or more additional languages being desirable
