About the job

The Production Food Safety Specialist will develop and drive our food safety and certification programs to ensure we are regulatory compliant, producing safe food, and working in a safe environment. This position requires working closely with the production teams and various functional groups in a fast- paced environment providing technical support and guidance so that our food safety goals and objectives are met. Verifying our food safety programs are effective, closing audit gaps, and working on continuous improvement projects are also part of the job. You will play a key role in maintaining our food safety programs, validating regulations, supporting FDA and HACCP criteria, and providing support for capital projects.

You will:

  • Develop and implement food safety and certification programs and procedures for our production facilities.
  • Become the subject matter expert with regulatory and internal food safety requirements.
  • Perform food safety risk assessments and hazard analysis activities on site.
  • Create training materials and train our teams.
  • Lead audit and verification activities to ensure compliance and certification requirements are met.
  • Drive and support continuous improvement and preventative action initiatives.
  • Track key performance indicators and report out results.
  • Work closely with production team members as their technical food safety expert.
  • Support our supplier, co-manufacturing, and third-party food safety programs.
  • Be an integral part of the Corporate Food Safety Team.
  • Analyze plant floor data on quality attributes and provide feedback that will enable process improvements

  • Experience working in a food manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to research and understand regulatory compliance standards and requirements.
  • Passion for food safety and implementing impactful programs.

  • Familiarity with consumer packaged goods and labeling requirements.
  • Proficiency writing policies and standard operating procedures.
  • Leadership ability and courage.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Food science or similar science background preferred.
  • HACCP, FSMA, PCQI knowledge is +.
