Who You Are

Brightwheel is seeking a Senior Accountant to join the Finance team. This position is for you if you love rolling up your sleeves and driving accounting, reporting, internal controls and compliance needs, and are process-minded with a high attention to detail. We are looking for a team player that possesses strong interpersonal skills to drive effective relationships with colleagues in People, Operations, and cross-functionally.

What You'll Do

  • Prepare financial statements, including balance sheet, income statement and other reports, according to schedule, including consolidation and reporting
  • Prepare journal entries related to payroll and other transactions, account reconciliations
  • Update employee nexus filings, sales tax analysis as needed
  • Assist with audits and tax returns as needed
  • Drive month-end and year-end close process
  • Document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP principles

Qualifications, Skills, & Abilities

  • BS degree in Accounting or Finance; (CPA) preferred
  • 3-5 years of public accounting experience
  • Accustomed to multitasking, prioritizing and meeting multiple tight deadlines in a fast-growing environment with frequently changing priorities
  • Knowledge of GAAP and familiar with financial accounting statements, including consolidation and reporting
  • Experienced with general ledger functions and the month-end/year-end close process
  • Process improvement mindset

Brightwheel offers a competitive compensation package (base salary, equity and benefits) with a strong emphasis on equity-based compensation (ownership in brightwheel). For cash compensation, brightwheel sets standard ranges for all roles based on function, level, and geographic location, benchmarked against similar stage growth companies. In alignment with Colorado's Equal Pay for Equal Work Act, the annual cash compensation for this role in Colorado is targeted at $87,000 - 120,000. Final offer amounts are determined by multiple factors including geographic location as well as candidate experience and expertise, and may vary from the amounts listed above.
