At Clari, the Data Protection Officer will be primarily responsible for monitoring Clari’s data protection compliance with the GDPR and other data protection regulations, policies and procedures and advising the organization of its data protection obligations. You will set the vision, establish, and oversee implementation of the policy and data management framework for privacy and data protection.

The role will also entail the development, implementation, and monitoring of the data protection aspects of compliance monitoring, strategy and policy and to support the Director, GRC in overseeing the evaluation, measurement, monitoring, and management of data protection risks enterprise-wide.

Responsibilities

  • Design and manage a principle-based Privacy and Data Protection (PDP) framework aligned with our business strategy, while also meeting existing and emerging legal and regulatory requirements
  • Partner across the organization to ensure a holistic governance, control, and management framework for PDP
  • Identify and classify personal and other controlled data across the enterprise and in enterprise metadata repositories
  • Ensure record retention in accordance with enterprise, legal, and regulatory requirements
  • Coordinate with Security Awareness on annual privacy training
  • Ensure PDP is taken into account by design in Clari services, products, and data architectures and promote the use of data privacy and protection technology and methods
  • Provide and maintain the necessary documentation to demonstrate compliance with data protection laws applicable to Clari
  • Collaborate with the relevant teams to ensure that requests and complaints are addressed in a timely manner
  • Provide education, awareness, and expert advice to all employees of Clari regarding their obligations to comply with applicable data protection laws, including the GDPR, when processing personal data
  • Monitor compliance with applicable data protection laws, including the GDPR
  • Inform stakeholders and employees of any changes to applicable data protection laws in a timely manner
  • Act as the single point of contact for data protection regulators on any relevant data matters
  • Collaborate with external Privacy Counsel as needed
  • Act as the main point of contact and cooperate with employees and data subjects on matters related to data protection
  • Develop and maintain the processes and procedures for reporting personal data breaches
  • Contribute to the review and development of security procedures and other controls for the protection of personal data.
  • Produce an annual summary of compliance against the GDPR and other applicable privacy laws

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 7 years of relevant industry experience
  • Proven experience building, implementing, and managing data protection programs at an organization subject to multiple PDP regulations
  • Expert in national and European data protection law, including an in-depth knowledge of the GDPR
  • CIPP/E certification a plus
  • Adept at balancing business needs with regulatory and reputational risk
  • Ability to explain the privacy program to customers on an as-needed basis
  • Ability to maintain the highest ethical standards to remain impartial and report non-compliance
  • Able to work independently and enjoy a high degree of interaction with team members
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Attention to detail and commitment to a high level of accuracy
