About The Role

This role will report to the Assistant Controller and will be tasked with contributing to the financial close process to start and as we continue to grow and scale will take on a leading role in the close process. They will be responsible for the management of a combination of projects, work streams, as well as direct reports, and actively streamline and create efficiencies with current processes and procedures. This role will work extensively with both internal and external business partners, to provide guidance, deliver requests, and help to develop best-in-class corporate policies. A successful candidate will be excited to streamline processes, develop meaningful reporting, create valuable KPIs and work in a team to help grow and scale the company!

Responsibilities

  • Heavily contribute then lead and manage monthly, quarterly and annual accounting close activities, including preparation and review of all required analyses and balance sheet reconciliations. Successful candidate should be ready to grow into the leadership role.
  • Manage tbd number of direct reports; conduct regular career conversations, provide guidance and mentoring, and create opportunities for development and growth
  • Contribute on quarterly financial statement reporting, including board and debt compliance financial statement requirements
  • Identify opportunities and implement solutions that will result in greater efficiency and accuracy for the monthly close process
  • Design, document, implement and maintain effective accounting policies, procedures and controls
  • Collaborate with FP&A department to support monthly and quarterly management reporting and flux analyses
  • Liaise with International Accounting Teams to review consolidated financial data during the financial close
  • Assist with deliverables and management of annual financial audit
  • Deliver due diligence requests and provide integration assistance to M&A team
  • Work cross-functionally with internal stakeholders to properly apply accounting guidance and improve business processes and policies
  • Perform special projects and analyses on an ad-hoc basis, as required

Skills and Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance required
  • CPA strongly preferred
  • At least 7 years of accounting experience, including a mix of public accounting and software or insurtech industry experience
  • Experience at a supervisory/manager level required
  • SEC reporting experience strongly preferred, either through client service or working at a public company
  • Proven ability to interpret and apply accounting guidance and prepare formal, well-supported, memo’s and supporting analyses
  • Strong communication skills, including ability to present technical guidance and analysis in a comprehensive and articulate manner to different levels and departments throughout the organization
  • Experience in a high growth, fast-paced startup environment is highly preferred with expert ability to switch between competing initiatives as needed
  • Process optimization focused - vision with the ability to apply practical solutions and navigate through ambiguity
  • Advanced skills in Excel/spreadsheet modeling
  • Knowledge of NetSuite, Floqast is preferred
