About The Role

We are looking for a Compliance Manager to join Coalition’s Legal and Compliance Team to help support Coalition’s US and International operations. This role will ensure our company adheres to legal standards and our internal policies so that we can maintain a world class insurance team in one of the world’s largest commercial insurtechs. This role comes with a significant amount of responsibility and requires compliance experience in the insurance industry and strong communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and oversee legal compliance controls
  • Assist Coalition’s Head of Legal and Compliance in the development, preparation and implementation of our corporate risk reporting and governance framework
  • Providing regulatory compliance and consumer protection-related guidance and supporting internal clients on matters pertaining to insurance requirements
  • Assist with the implementation and lead on compliance
  • Provide compliance support for our International operations, including using the FCA Connect System and RMAR reporting
  • Maintain a current view of the regulatory environment and assist in the preparation of regulatory responses to objections, complaints or guidance provided by regulatory agencies
  • Draft, modify and implement company policies
  • Assist with awareness of compliance and consumer protection policies and procedures, facilitating updates as required
  • Develop and/or conduct training for newly hired employees and providing ongoing training as required.
  • Implement various compliance practices
  • Collaborate with the Legal Team and HR to monitor enforcement of standards and regulations
  • Keep abreast of regulatory developments within or outside of the company as well as evolving best practices in insurance compliance
  • Prepare reports for senior leadership and external regulatory bodies or insurance partners as appropriate
  • Assist on other miscellaneous legal and compliance projects

Skills and Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience in the a highly regulated industry (Insurance/Finance)
  • Previous compliance experience with experience in international businesses preferred
  • Experience working through the compliance program implementation audit process, as well as working directly with regulators
  • Ability to work independently and manage short and long-term projects
  • Must possess excellent legal and/or business judgement
  • Leadership skills, ability to coach and train, set expectations, and drive results in a matrix environment
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work well with business colleagues, clients and outside counsel
  • High attention to detail and accuracy
  • Nimble; ability to prioritize work without supervision, and effectively manage a large variety and number of matters
  • Happy to work in a fast-paced and challenging start-up environment

Bonus Points

  • Working knowledge of European insurance/insurtech compliance requirements
  • In-depth understanding of the UK regulatory and compliance environment with particular knowledge of general insurance and/or cyber insurance
  • Experience in marketing, advertising and/or consumer protection
