Role Summary: Guidewire Cloud Program Managers (GCPM) are assigned to manage the Guidewire Cloud project. GCPM role is a GO-TO person about the overall program status and tasks for all internal stakeholders within Guidewire such as Tech Leads, Cloud Operation, Delivery Services (Delivery Managers/Cloud Assurance/Cloud Transition Practice), Product Development, Customer Success and others in Guidewire and external stakeholders including customers.

GCPM is responsible for managing the day-to-day activities and inventories of tasks within the Cloud program, chasing task owners to proceed forward, and sharing the project status regularly in a Japanese business format. The role requires effective coordination for such activities of multiple stakeholders across different departments and cultures. The proactive problem-solving behavior including oversight of any risks and issues arising is necessary.

GCPM is also responsible to provide such visibility in both written and verbal communication appropriately.

The ideal candidate will be well versed in agile implementation methodologies and enterprise-scale implementations and be able to deliver projects that combined those qualities.

The job location is in Japan and supports Guidewire Cloud customers in Japan. Japanese language, both written and verbal, is required for this role.


  • Responsible for planning and monitoring all activities that are on the critical path for transition to the cloud
  • Plan and design the program and proactively monitor its progress, resolve issues, and initiate appropriate corrective action and serve as an escalation point
  • Coordinate the task and actions with customers and internal stakeholders.
  • Create comprehensive and detailed Japanese customer-facing documents such as project status reports and supplementary documentations
  • Monitor whether the required skill set including certifications are met within customers/SI partners continuously
  • Manage third party contributions to the program
  • Manage communications with all stakeholders
  • Manage risks and facilitate mitigation activities to ensure the program's successful outcome
  • Initiate extra activities and other management interventions wherever gaps in the program are identified or issues arise
  • Appoint other individuals to support the program role gaps
  • Report the progress of the program at regular intervals to the Steering Committee and other stakeholders as required and defined in the governance process documentation.

Required Skills/Experience:

  • 5-7 years of IT program management experience
  • Experience leading enterprise technology implementations leveraging agile and understanding agile tools and concepts
  • 10+ years relevant customer-facing work experience and good communication skills in Japanese and English
  • Ability to build team collegiality on large scale programs and across multiple geographical locations
  • Solid knowledge of program and project management methods (such as PMP, MSP, and PRINCE2), together with an understanding of Agile methods
  • Ability to find ways of solving or pre-empting problems
  • Hands-on experience with creating a status report and Japanese customer-facing documents
  • Good Japanese Business Writing skills
  • Strong Multi-cultural experience bridging the gap of different business cultures
  • Experience with a project management tool
  • Ability to deal with issues directly, firmly, and in a timely manner; doesn’t allow problems to fester; regularly reviews performance and holds timely discussions

Desired Skills:

  • Strong knowledge of the P&C insurance space, industry trends, and challenges, the fundamental economics of an insurance company
  • Guidewire product and insurance domain knowledge
  • Experience working with cloud-native platforms, the development process for cloud delivery and/or managed solutions
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification
  • Agile certifications: Certified Scrum Master (CSM), Scaled Agilest (SA)
  • Ability to travel as needed to client locations, industry events, and company initiatives
