The Role

Guidewire helps our customers and partners implement our software across Europe, and we are looking for an experienced Software Architect to help us fulfill increasing demand.

Reporting to the responsible Guidewire Delivery Manager for the customer account, you will work in tandem with client and partner teams to understand and implement business objectives and system requirements. As a Guidewire architect, you will become the trusted advisor for the customer and partner, and you will coach and mentor their teams, enabling them to become self- sufficient over time. This position requires a unique blend of technical aptitude, business savvy, and interpersonal skills. Our projects will expect some on-site presence, so there will be expectations to travel in Europe freely without sponsorship.

Qualifications and Education Requirements

  • BSc in Computer Science or equivalent
  • 10+ years of implementation experience
  • Advanced, hands on exposure to broad technical skills such as Object Oriented programming (preferably JAVA), relational databases (data modeling/SQL), web UI (design and development), XML, application architecture
  • Software development lifecycle exposure (AGILE)

Required skills

  • Fluency in oral and written English.
  • Insurance industry experience such as claims processing, policy rating, broker processing.
  • Effective leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills.
  • Proven negotiation skills and a strong ability to understand and influence customers
  • Ability to build team collegiality on large scale programs with teams from different vendors and companies.
  • Ability to find ways of solving or preempting problems and proactively dealing with any issues that arise in a timely manner.
  • Ability to gain respect and to create a sense of community amongst the members of the project teams.
  • Ability to work independently and within a team.
  • Ability to travel freely in Europe for work.
