This is an incredibly exciting time for autonomous vehicles and our team is looking to grow.

The controls team is responsible for designing and developing control code for our fleet of trucks. Our trucks handle a variety of scenarios daily including forced merges, lane changes, lane adjustments, changing freight weights, emergency vehicles, and off ramps to name a few.

Responsibilities / Projects:

  • Work with technical lead(s) to set the technical direction for the team as well as the medium to long-term roadmap
  • Mentor and coach existing team members including code reviews, 1 on 1’s and employee growth
  • Oversee the development of automotive-grade safety-critical software that adheres to quality standards
  • Work with systems engineering to ensure functional safety
  • Conduct performance reviews, identify top performers and support their growth
  • Help define, build, and embody Embark’s engineering culture and principles
  • Participate in recruiting by working closely with recruiters, screening candidates, and identifying opportunities for external engagement to improve the Embark engineering brand

Your Experience Might Include:

  • 4+ years of experience managing a software engineering team in a production environment
  • Effective interpersonal, leadership, and communication skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively cross-functionally while tailoring communication to stakeholders in different disciplines
  • Experience writing production level C++ / Python
  • Experience working with safety-critical embedded systems
  • Experience with classical control theory, analysis and design techniques on production systems
  • Experience with modeling, simulation and validation
  • Experience working on state estimation, sensor fault detection and calibration
  • BS, MS or PhD in science, math, engineering, or equivalent real-world experience
