As a Senior Embedded Linux Engineer for compute systems, you will be part of the hardware platform team that is responsible for architecting and delivering a compute platform for Embark’s self driving technology software. You will be working with the compute system team in implementing software and relevant profiling tools for realizing a distributed high performance compute system. This role will require working with third party vendors and compute system manufacturers in building a production level compute system.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop embedded software for linux applications and drivers
  • Use or develop profiling tools for identifying system bottlenecks (I/O, Memory, CPU, scheduling, timing, GPU, network, etc)
  • Partition workloads across a variety of compute systems (CPU, GPU, ISP/VPU, Accelerators)
  • Optimize resource allocation through use of scheduling and hypervisors
  • Design and execute evaluations of cutting edge compute hardware for next gen systems
  • Interface with high bandwidth time sensitive links from a variety of sensors and datalinks (CAN, Serial, Ethernet, GMSL, FPDLink)
  • Work with distributed timing systems (PTP, NTP, PPS, GPS, SyncE)
  • Root cause compute failures and performance (kernel crashes, latency issues, etc)

Preferred Experience:

  • BS/MS in Electrical/Computer Engineering or similar degree
  • 5+ years of Embedded software development experience (C/C++/Python)
  • Intimate knowledge of linux (kernel, systemd, scheduler, hypervisors, chrony, TCP/IP, HTTP, logging, etc)
  • Experience interfacing between hardware, kernel space, and user space
  • Experience debugging system crashes and dissecting system logs
  • Experience profiling and analyzing workloads (CPU, memory, networking, GPUs)
  • Familiarity interfacing with CAN, Serial, I2C, PCIe, Ethernet, FPDLink, GMSL, PPS, PTP, NTP
  • Worked with RTOS or real time Linux
  • Bonus: Experience with ROS (Robotic Operating System)
  • Bonus: Experience with hardware acceleration (CUDA, TensorRT, SIMD, AVX/SSE, h264)
