The Senior Fleet Engineer role serves as a cross-functional, technical leader delivering high fleet availability and building world-class operations. The Senior Fleet Engineer works closely with Engineering, Fleet Service, and Embark’s carrier partners to diagnose challenging on-truck issues across both autonomous and base OEM truck systems. As an influential member of our Technical Operations team, you'll be responsible for defining a winning operations strategy that optimizes technology and processes across our customers, suppliers, and partners, redefining the future autonomous truck landscape.

Day-to-day responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Lead root cause analyses on a variety of sophisticated issues, affecting hardware, integration, and the vehicle systems
• Provide fully characterized HW issue analysis in order to support future design improvements.
• Proactively identify and drive improvements in process and design.
• Develop robust and scalable processes for engineers and technicians.
• Identify and develop processes and tools to continuously improve fleet issue management, uptime, and utilization.
• Analyze fleet data to proactively identify and mitigate fleet reliability issues.

Abilities & requirements:

• BS or MS degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Automotive, Industrial Engineering or similar Engineering field.
• Demonstrated ability in an industrial, manufacturing, automotive, robotics, or similar industry.
• Hands-on experience with mechanical, electrical, and software engineering components and an understanding of how they interact in a sophisticated electromechanical system.
• Capability to adapt, operate, and act decisively in an ambiguous environment.
• Ability to understand and learn sophisticated technical systems.
• Strong communication skills (written/verbal), comfortable speaking across all organizational levels and departments to complex technical issues and topics.
• Outstanding analytical and strategic problem solving skills; capability to take ambiguous technical problems and develop solutions.

Bonus points if you have:

• Experience working with 24x7 operations.
• Statistical analysis skills.
• Trucking, automotive, and/or autonomous industry experience diagnosing sensors, compute, electrical, CAN, or base vehicle OEM systems.
