As a senior system electrical engineer, you will be responsible for the design of our next-generation automotive embedded compute system hardware for Embark’s self-driving trucks. You will work directly with embedded software engineers, mechanical engineers, and engineering technicians to ensure that the embedded hardware on the trucks meets the functional safety process requirements. Your technical contributions will directly impact the requirements, design, integration, and validation/verification of our self- driving trucks.

Responsibilities:

  • Design and support the electrical and embedded compute system development of Embark’s self driving trucks
  • Keep up to date on automotive and HPC market trends
  • Perform make vs. buy analysis for electrical subsystems and work with vendors to implement buy components where practical
  • Own the design and validation of automotive PCB and interconnect systems from the component selection through vehicle integration
  • Establish QA methodologies and processes for embedded hardware designs
  • Design with a focus on scalability, manufacturability, and functional safety
  • Work cross-functionally to ensure functional requirements and hardware designs meet the needs of all the teams within the organization

Preferred Experience:

  • BS/MS in Electrical Engineering or similar degree
  • 5+ years of design cycle experience for embedded processors including high-speed memory and interconnect from concept to production
  • Demonstrated experience with quick prototypes and production board bring up
  • Previous experience in ECAD and version control. Familiarity with Altium Designer is a bonus
  • Experience with hardware reliability and testing
  • Direct automotive experience and ISO26262 familiarity is a plus
  • Wiring harness and vehicle electrical experience is a bonus
  • Knowledge of Linux, real-time systems, scripts, and software version control are a plus
