Location: San Francisco / Remote
Employment Type: Full-time
Team: Motion Planning and Controls
Embark Trucks is America's Longest-Running Self-Driving Truck Program and is bringing autonomous freight mainstream. As covered by the Wall Street Journal, CNBC, Forbes, TechCrunch and and other outlets, Embark went public via a ~$5 billion SPAC deal in November 2021, and is listed on Nasdaq under the symbol EMBK. Embark is headquartered in San Francisco, CA with operations centers in Fontana, CA and Houston, TX, moving freight daily using our purpose-built transfer hubs. Embark has aligned itself with
truck manufacturers, shippers, and carriers to integrate our technology into the freight ecosystem, pursuing a
business model where fleets own and operate Embark trucks. This is an incredibly exciting time for autonomous vehicles and our team is looking to grow.
Embark’s trajectory generation and controls team develops systems that create safe and comfortable motion plans and that reliably and accurately actuate these plans. Our job is to ensure that our trucks drive safely and smoothly despite changing traffic conditions, environmental and weather effects, varying freight loads, and complex situational constraints.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with planning and control engineers to design, architect, and refactor the motion planning stack with clear, flexible, and scalable interfaces and architecture.
- Collaborate with planning and control engineers to design and build data structures and algorithms for high-performance numerical and scientific computing within the motion planning framework.
- Design and build tools for physics- and machine-learning based vehicle modeling, fault, and noise injection, and large-scale data analysis for motion planning.
Required Experience
- 3 or more years of C++ experience with applications in high-performance scientific or numerical computing or software architecture for developing and debugging large-scale systems
Your background might include
- Experience in GPGPU, graphics programming, simulator design and development, or AR/VR applications.
- Experience in high-performance video game development including the design and development of entity-component architectures, real-time collision detection and collision handling, and high-fidelity physics engines.
