Job Summary:

The Senior Systems Administrator’s responsibilities include but are not limited to maintenance and management of systems on premise and in-cloud as well as providing user support to employees in the Katy TX, San Leandro CA offices and abroad. This individual will also be accountable for the following systems: Windows OS, VMware Solutions, storage systems, monitoring hardware. This individual should be able to do research and development to ensure continual innovation for the responsible services.

Major Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Manage and secure technology solutions including: servers, endpoints, storage, virtualization, switches, firewalls, and cloud systems
  • Propose and implement system enhancements (software and hardware) to improve system performance and reliability
  • Provide systems analysis and participate in making recommendations on potential hardware and software purchases and upgrades
  • Actively monitor system performance, security policies and logs
  • Perform regular security monitoring to identify/prevent intrusions
  • Apply OS patches and upgrades using patch management software
  • Coordinate & perform upgrades of servers and workstations
  • Assist with moves, adds, and changes of computers systems & phones
  • Setup and support Windows 2012-2016 servers
  • Setup and support Windows 10 & Mac OS endpoints
  • Refine, implement and test system backups and Disaster Recovery Plan
  • Develop system documentation/SOPs using strong technical writing
  • Troubleshoot and repair of hardware, software, networking, email and web applications
  • Help Desk support
  • Setup and support of Office 365 Suite
  • Ability to work weekends or after hours for occasional system updates and emergencies
  • Basic-level support for SQL servers, Azure, AWS, Box and Okta
  • Support of backup system and the management of virtual tape archive with AWS Storage Gateway and Glacier
  • Maintain virtual environment consisting of VMware ESXi hosts, Vcenter and Horizon View VDI
  • Research and recommend innovative, and where possible, automated approaches for system administration tasks. Identify approaches that leverage our resources and provide economies of scale
  • Monitor Systems performance, respond to alerts and system issues in a timely fashion
  • Communicate with end-users and provide training as needed on new or changes in technology
  • Able to take ownership and assist with projects with little supervision
  • Other duties & projects as assigned

Skills & Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in information systems, computer science or related field

  • 5+ years of experience in System Administration

  • Extensive experience with administration of Windows AD/DNS/DHCP

  • Extensive experience with HyperV

  • Experience in supporting remote computers/servers/users

  • Strong troubleshooting skills

  • Strong documentation skills

  • Ability to work independently and as a member of a team

  • Ability to engage end users with patience and clear communication

  • Cisco firewall/IPS experience is desirable

  • Commvault and Splunk experience is desirable

  • Linux administration experience is desirable

  • Microsoft MCSE, Cisco CCNA/CCNP/CCSP, or other certifications are desirable

  • ** Required Technical Skills:**

  • Strong experience with AD, SQL, Network, and Storage

  • Active Directory, Exchange Online and Okta (SSO)

  • Windows server experience, performance monitoring, and understanding of central logging services.

  • Knowledge and understanding of backup software, snapshots and disaster recovery.

  • Design, install, maintain, configure, secure and support hardware platforms, operating systems, wired/wireless network components, and related products and technologies

  • Basic understanding of the Linux operating system

  • VMware and virtualization technology experience, App Virtualization using VMware ThinApp

  • Must have experience maintaining and administering Azure environment

  • Ability to work in a hybrid environment with on-premise systems and cloud applications

  • Understanding of basic administration of ERP systems such as Dynamics 365

  • Experience writing basic scripts.

  • Willing to take on new assignments, grow in capabilities, and learn new technologies.

  • Energetic self-starter that requires minimal supervision

  • Excellent customer service skills and the ability to work in a team environment.

  • _ Preferred Skills:_

  • IT certifications a plus (Microsoft, Azure, Cisco, VMware, AWS)

  • Experience working with monitoring tools like Splunk, Solarwinds and SCCM

  • Microsoft AX Dynamics 365

  • Nimble storage and SAN technology

  • Project Management, Technical Documentation
