Exploding Kittens is seeking an experienced Director of Sales, New Accounts to join our North America Sales team. In this role you will manage a key component of our business including the developing and implementing our 3 year North America strategy including target customers, growth objectives and success metrics.

The position should then be able to proceed to leverage your and our outstanding network to open these doors to Exploding Kittens and contribute a significant percentage of our total global revenue. To develop processes around creating and maintaining sales and inventory forecasts for these new customer accounts, partnering with existing sales teams responsible for core accounts including Amazon, Target and Walmart.

This role will monitor account orders and sales performance, and partner with our Production and Logistics teams on forward-looking inventory needs to ensure our customers remain in an ideal inventory position for our continuously expanding assortment of games and more. This role will also partner with the Marketing division, to ensure marketing plans and tactics support the business strategy.


  • Achieve and exceed sales and profitability goals for exploding kittens product including physical games, puzzles and ancillary product
  • Partner with executive leadership and Sales team to review, revise and implement short-, medium-, and long-term sales strategy for all new Retail and Distribution trade accounts in North America. Manage ongoing execution of this strategy
  • Drive continual expansion of retail customer base to increase revenue and diversify business risk by setting annual account and quarterly growth goals and tracking performance against these goals
  • Actively monitor consumer and retail trends via vendor reps, retailers, and industry data sources. Apply these learnings to secure additional customer accounts and additional item placement in existing accounts
  • Use market research, account and customer feedback to identify market opportunities for new products. Act as liaison across sales, game development and marketing to build product/customer roadmap
  • Identify new retail account opportunities (regional and national) and prioritize efforts to secure these new accounts
  • Aggressively pursue new accounts through your extensive network as well as vendor representatives, distribution partners, or by direct outreach to these customers
  • Quickly build trusting relationships with customers and secure placement of Exploding Kittens products
  • Understand the needs of customers and identify white space opportunities for new games or new configurations of our existing product
  • Negotiate trading terms to maximize revenue opportunity while balancing profitability goals
  • Partner with marketing team to develop sales materials to be used specifically for new account acquisition
  • Manage the onboarding process of these new accounts in partnership with an assigned Sales Coordinator
  • As business grows, handoff day-to-day account management to assigned Sales Manager


  • Proven track record of opening a high volume of regional and national retail customer accounts in a short timeframe (1-2 years)
  • 10+ years experience in consumer products sales role specifically selling games or toys to mass market and hobby retailers
  • Strong follow up skills and comfort with the persistence required to secure new business
  • Ability to solve problems creatively and anticipate challenges during the sales process
  • Outstanding negotiation capabilities
  • Exceptional analytical and organizational skills
  • Expert at Microsoft Excel, and competency in other relevant software such as Google Drive, Google Docs and Google Sheets
  • High service orientation, hands-on mentality and attention to detail
  • Entrepreneurial mindset, with experience working in a fast-paced, agile environment
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work in the following states: CA, AZ, IL, MI, MO, NY, PA, TX, WA
