Fanatics Betting and Gaming is seeking a Director of Finance who thrives in a dynamic and fast-paced environment to join our high-energy Accounting and Finance team. The Director of Finance plays a critical role within accounting and finance. Reporting to the Controller, VP of Accounting, this individual is primarily focused on developing and overseeing Betting and Gaming planning processes to deliver financial insights and analyses that inform key business and resource allocation decisions. The breadth of this
role provides broad visibility into Betting and Gaming’s business and operations and has a significant impact within our growing Accounting and Finance organization. Our successful candidate must be a collaborative
finance professional with well-rounded knowledge of Corporate FP&A and Corporate Finance concepts in the betting and gaming space and interpersonal skills to function successfully in a high growth and fast- paced environment with excellent skills around prioritization, collaboration and influencing. Ideally, our candidate is comfortable and effective in a rapidly changing environment and will partner closely with the
leaders of holding company and shared-service controllership, tax, treasury, legal, and FP&A functions, as well as a broad group of cross-functional business teams to provide guidance, and support well informed decisions. Our candidate will be expected to anticipate and surface issues, solve problems, and recommend solutions, while exercising good business judgment and risk management. This role requires
effective communication skills to facilitate information flow between business functions and Accounting and Finance, and to drive discussions with executives. The position has prominent levels of exposure to senior executives at the company and you will be expected to represent the Betting and Gaming financial and strategic interests to multiple partners. This position brings together the ability to provide the highest level of
business strategy and guidance, while also working in an entrepreneurial hands-on environment.
Director of Finance Responsibilities:
Managing Strategic Financial Plans - Develop short-term and long-term strategic financial planning by partnering with Betting and Gaming leaders to assess overall vertical goals. Establish and communicate information about financial targets; identify and report risk levels determined for the financial plan and provide actionable insights. Work with multiple departments/teams to oversee proforma economics and profitability of potential large-scale initiatives.
Financial Decision Making - Lead alignment and consensus about financial decisions. Collaborate with Betting and Gaming leadership to plan and analyze business performance by identifying gaps
between business goals and objectives. Perform specific financial statement analysis, review, and compare P&Ls to budgets.
Project and Business Management - Drive the long-term transformation of our planning approach, operations, and technology, including identifying and sponsoring initiatives to continuously improve, automate and scale forecasting and reporting tools and systems.
Communications and Presentations - Provide strategic input for business decisions by creating and owning financial models that incorporate assumptions, expectations, and known risks; prepare presentations and other supporting materials for recommendations.
Talent and Leadership - Develop and implement strategies to attract and maintain a highly skilled and engaged team. Hire and train new staff, assign projects, conduct performance evaluations, and map out development plans with an eye towards continuing diversity and inclusion efforts of the team and at the company.
Other Day-to-Day - Apply the financial policies and procedures of the company. Bring inconsistencies and problems to the attention of management. Partner with internal or third-party valuation experts to prepare valuation reports. Assist with special projects as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor or higher degree in Finance or Accounting
Minimum 10 years; experience in Big 4 accounting, corporate environment, consulting, investment banking, business strategy, business operations and/or analytics or mix with a minimum of 5 years in the betting and gaming industry
CFA with a minimum of 8 years of experience with a minimum of 5 years in the betting and gaming industry
Understanding of financial statement analysis and corporate finance concepts at an expert level
Familiar with design thinking and building financial models
Expert proficiency in the use of spreadsheet programs and other software applications for financial analysis
Experience in building cross-functional relationships and partnering with senior leaders
Ability to think proactively and work in a highly collaborative and fast- paced environment
Desire to develop and continuously improve processes
Strong analytical skills
Ability to organize and prioritize tasks
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Management experience leading and developing teams
Experience driving operational efficiency and execution
Preferred Qualifications:
Professional certification as CPA or CFA
Strong knowledge of GAAP and accounting operations involving financial statement preparation and general ledger/accounting
Strong knowledge of internal controls
Experience in driving automation and modernization of financial reporting processes
Knowledge of data science technologies and data analytics
Experience in the technology industry
