The Garment Technician actively leads all aspects pertaining to core block pattern adherence, construction, quality, fit, measuring, grading, and decoration placement, including training the vendors technical product team. The Garment Technician will be the key liaison between the US office, regional office and vendors to implement and ensure adherence to brand product technical standards in development to production ready status.

Responsibilities

Product Standards / Process / Manuals

  • Oversee vendor adherence to block pattern library established by each brand
  • Support development and updates of block pattern library
  • Train active vendor base garment technicians on fit, product construction, how to measure and standards manuals and implement certified factory garment technician program

Salesmen Sample to Production Buy Ready

  • Final production ready fit and measurement tech pack: Maintain and update comments to meet production ready deadlines in conjunction w/Product Development and Materials teams. Ensure all tech packs are accurate and complete, following standard protocol as established by guidelines
  • Review sales samples, jump-size-sets, pre-production samples to ensure product execution aligns with tech pack, fit block, product construction and quality standards and addresses any issues from prior comment sheets
  • Troubleshoot potential production issues that may affect aesthetic and or execution
  • Ensure final tech pack and approved samples are available to Quality team in preparation for pre-production and production protocols
  • Support resourcing from original factory to new factory with transfer of pattern and samples to ensure consistency in product fit and construction

Daily Activities

  • Maintain tracking and related record keeping, data input and in/out package coordination with product development
  • Monitor production work in progress (WIP) and manage all reports / working files with vendors for technical development
  • Facilitate timely communication with internal and external partners between US office, suppliers and manufacturers
  • Perform other ad hoc duties as assigned

Requirements

  • BS degree in Product Development / Fit Engineer / Technical Design / Pattern Making, or equivalent experience, with minimally 6 years of hands-on experience
  • Experience working for a US global company with international offices working with factories throughout Asia
  • Proficient in PLM, pattern software, data bases, 3D pattern software and MS Office applications
  • Experience managing processes and leading projects
  • Expert on synthetic and cotton active wear and outerwear fit and construction with ability to identify and correct fit issues
  • Actively participate in corporate standards inclusive of garment and quality
  • Must be deadline driven and have a pro-active and creative approach to problem solving
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and follow-up
  • Must be able to translate market right designs into cost effective garments while maintaining quality and design integrity of product
  • Ability to handle multiple deadlines and tasks in a fast-paced environment. Strong sense of urgency and intuitive sense of priorities and accuracy
  • Willing and able to travel extensively, often to foreign and/or remote locations
  • Strong command of written and spoken English and Spanish is required
