The Data Architecture team’s charter is to continually develop and enhance the vision for Fanatics’ portfolio of data platforms and frameworks, define strategies for achieving that vision and collaborate with other teams to adopt and materialize that vision.

Job Responsibilities

Serve as a lead architect for strategic data initiatives, collaborate effectively with other architects, product managers and technology teams to deliver innovative, impactful, scalable and robust platforms, services and frameworks.

Identify opportunities to adopt methodologies which improve our agility and quality in delivery of large-scale analytics solutions.

Hands on contribution to the vision and development of data platforms, infrastructure and tools: data cataloging and governance, MPP compute engines and databases, streaming and batch pipelines, reporting and visualizations, workload automation, and services and frameworks which facilitate data access, and deep analytics.

Evaluate emerging data technologies and frameworks, identify and clearly describe the benefits of adopting them and collaborate with product teams to develop a roadmap for adoption.

Democratize standards and best practices for access and utilization of data at Fanatics.

Job Requirements

Experience with building large scale Data Warehouse and Business Intelligence platforms.

Hands-on experience with developing and managing distributed systems in the cloud using open-source technologies

Experience with AWS, Azure or other cloud platforms.

Knowledge of common design patterns, models and architecture used in Big Data processing.

Strong grasp on fundamental data structures and algorithms.

Experience in developing distributed systems leveraging OO and functional programming languages

Proficiency in any 2 of the following languages: Scala, Java, Python, Go

Hands-on experience in development in the Hadoop ecosystem, preferably Spark.

Experience with and deep understanding of distributed databases such as: Redshift, Snowflake, Vertica, Teradata, etc.

Knowledge and experience in designing and developing RESTful services.

Experience in partnering with stakeholders, product managers, architects, engineers in building and managing data environments that are complex, enterprise wide, multi-tenant, and host large volume of data.

Great team player with excellent written & verbal communication skills

Masters degree preferred with 7+ years of applicable experience or Bachelors degree preferred with 10+ years of applicable experience in Computer Science or a related field.

Exposure to messaging platforms such as Kafka and Apache Pulsar is preferred.

Experience with Linux/Unix system administration preferred.
