The Product Sustainability Manager will drive the implementation of environmental strategy related to materials and product creation for Fanatics Brands. This will include providing guidance on material/product sustainability to Product teams and managing cross-functional efforts to operationalize sustainability initiatives. The manager will report to the Sustainability Sr. Manager, Environment & Data. The position will be based in Tampa, FL.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee a cross-functional task force on product and material sustainability
  • Assess and communicate the environmental impacts of different materials using internal and external data sources, including industry standard tools such as the Higg MSI/PM
  • Create guidance resources on preferred materials selection for product teams
  • Guide the process of setting and tracking against product sustainability targets, including preferred materials targets and impact-related targets
  • Provide expertise on potential product-related sustainability initiatives, including by estimating impact mitigation potential, and guide the process of project selection and planning
  • Manage ongoing, cross-functional product sustainability projects; track and report on project progress against key metrics
  • Co-develop policies and procedures for managing chain of custody and product sustainability claims, as necessary
  • Collaborate with internal teams to develop external communications guidelines for product sustainability claims
  • Manage partnerships with key external stakeholders related to product sustainability, including via multi-stakeholder initiatives
  • Contribute to the ongoing development of environmental sustainability strategy

Qualifications

  • A passion and commitment to sustainable business practices
  • Bachelor’s or Graduate degree (or equivalent experience) in environmental sustainability, product creation, or related field
  • 5+ years-experience in product sustainability, apparel product creation, or corporate environmental sustainability, preferably within an apparel brand
  • Strong organization and project management skills, and a successful track record of managing deliverables from senior-level colleagues
  • Experience managing global, cross-functional groups and processes
  • Understanding of environmental impact and sustainability attributes of materials and products, preferably including knowledge of life cycle assessment (LCA) and/or sustainability impact assessment
  • Experience with product/material sustainability standards and external product claims
  • Excellent organizational skills; excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability and willingness to undertake diverse projects
  • Willingness to travel when needed
