Reporting the North America Sports & Entertainment Asst. Finance Manger, The Topps Company is seeking a Senior Accountant to join its Finance team located in Manhattan. This high-profile team directly supports both the Direct-to- Consumer and Wholesale businesses for Topps’ Sports & Entertainment division by leading the month end close process and supporting both internal and external financial reporting. This position offers a unique opportunity to develop your finance and analysis skills, while supporting a fast-growing business.

Key Responsibilities

• This position will focus on the following priorities:
• Ensuring and developing processes for the preparation and recording of required journal entries for certain Topps Sports & Entertainment wholesale and eCommerce businesses including daily transactions and monthly expense allocations
• Provide outstanding financial business partnership to the business unit teams/departments including Brand and Marketing
• Ensure an open channel of communication exists during close with the business unit finance leads
• Partner and collaborate with peers and business partners to drive change management, increase operational efficiencies, lead process improvement and alignment within the accounting and finance organization, as well as cross functionally
• Assist and develop balance sheet support schedules and reconciliations as needed monthly
• Maintaining the process for collection, tracking, analyzing, reporting and reconciliation of royalties to 3rd Party Licensors
• Improve financial status by analyzing results and variances, identifying trends, and recommending actions
• Recommend to management any updates to accounting policies related to processes and procedures
• Acquire a deep understanding of the business processes related to assigned area/function (including general ledger accounts, inventory and transaction flow)
• Perform duties in compliance with GAAP, company and department policies and procedures, internal controls, and Sarbanes-Oxley requirements if needed
• Assist management on any and all accounting related issues
• Prepare ad hoc financial reporting requests, other analyses and special projects requested by management
• Assist with developing policies, including working with outside service providers as needed
• Assist with the coordination of the Company’s growth and expansion as needed

Professional Experience/Qualifications

• The ideal candidate will possess the following credentials:
• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting required
• 3+ years’ practical accounting experience
• Ability to handle multiple tasks and stringent deadlines within a fast-paced environment is a must
• Ability to organize and prioritize tasks
• Must have strong analytical skills
• Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to effectively work with multiple departments and levels within the organization
• Strong attention to detail
• Experience with Oracle EBS, Hyperion Essbase, and/or Magento eCommerce platform is a plus for this role

Certification

• A CPA (Certified Public Accountant) certification is a plus for this role
