As a Sr. Merchandise Manager (SMM) at Fanatics Brands this role is the expert in the merchandising of consumer products for a specific brand, league, or category. Partnering with cross functional teams like product creation and design to translate consumer insights into merchant line plans and build out a plan to support seasonal revenue, margin, and productivity goals.

General Duties & Responsibilities

  • Be an expert in product concepts, including the creation of key stories and product that generates an emotional connection to the brand and consumer
  • Lead the creation of comprehensive line plans by distribution channels and by leagues based on category direction and rights that can be activated against to support an integrated global marketplace
  • Translate consumer insights into commercially viable, trend-relevant stories
  • Brief the Product Creation team seasonally based on style investment, art, and competitive landscape
  • Utilize and optimize the merchant planning team to track and define key business opportunities
  • Maintain strong cross-functional relationships with Product Creation, Design, and Planning to deliver margin and adoption rate goals
  • Present your product line to various internal and external partners at key development timelines to ensure alignment between sales, merchandising, and marketing.
  • Establish pricing strategy to achieve category margin and profitability targets
  • Constantly analyze the competitor landscape to drive our ability to build new growth opportunities
  • Analyze POS data to create in-season energy programs that drive revenue and inform future product creation
  • Create separation and differentiation where appropriate by channel to ensure an integrated marketplace
  • Maintain competitive price matrix to inform strategy for future development
  • Adoption rate, velocity and key style metrics will be levers you use to impact a growing business.
  • When applicable, lead and represent as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) to support company’s growth and strategic initiatives
  • Lead and develop a small team of merchants, supporting, mentoring team members with presentation, process, and culture
  • Possible travel, including overseas, account and league reviews

Requirements & Abilities

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Merchandising, Manufacturing, or related field; or the equivalent combination of education, training, or work experience, 5+ years of experience in retail or wholesale is acceptable without a degree.
  • Excellent organizational, communication and presentation skills
  • Ability to meet deadlines, prioritize workload, adapt to change, and maintain composure under pressure.
  • Maintains a positive and professional attitude towards team, vendors, and clients
  • Expert experience with fashion, color, and trend analysis.
  • Strong understanding of the product creation process is required.
  • Product merchandising/creation experience of at least 5 years
  • Strong understanding of merchandising retail math/financial skills
  • Intermediate skill level in MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook, as well as familiarity with data warehouses and database management
  • Experience in identifying the right products to meet brief requirements
  • Sports fan a plus
  • Experience in using and utilizing sales data to analyze and steer a business
  • Ability to travel up to 35% of the job
